This is a real blender
I bought this to replace a Kitchen Aid.The Kitchen Aid uses a coupler on top of the motor which spins the blade that's made out of rubber over metal which will break if you make lots of frozen fruit drinks. That's what I had happen.The Waring uses the same type of design, but the difference is that you can buy a replacement ($5.95) and put it on yourself with a wrench If it were to ever come apart. The Kitchen Aid has to be serviced, take apart the motor to get to it from the inside etc.This Waring Blender is very powerful! It's loud and spins very fast. Which makes it blend in a fraction of the time of others. It makes my old Kitchen-Aid seem like a childs toy in comparison.It's much more obviously commercial through heft, simplicity of design and function and servicability.It has only 2 speeds. Professional chefs say that's all you need. it has a simple toggle switch, no multiple speed electronic gimmics. Just very functional.I originally really wanted a...

Several facts:- 1 HP motor (on low setting this thing will crush rocks)- All parts are serviceable / replaceable (just like any good industrial piece of equipment)- Will pulverize ice drinks (margaritas) in about three seconds- Made in USA!I got lucky and found as an out-of-box special at my local Fry's electronics store for $99.90 - stole it. This is last blender I will own in my lifetime, what is that worth?Yes you could spend less, and get an average household blender. But how often can you afford the best? Can you afford the best car in world, the best house???

Over the past 3 years, we have owned a 'commercial quality' KitchenAid with a stainless steel pitcher and a high end Oster unit.Neither blended milk, frozen fruit, soy powder, and cottage cheese properly. The Kitchen Aid always left a blob of non-blended material plus chunks of fruit in the bottom.We purchased the Waring Mega-Mix 5 months ago after reading the reviews on Amazon.com. A Real Blender II
After doing a poor research, I bought a cuisinart blender 4 months ago or so. It was not a cheap one, since I paid for it $110. However, it completely died after two months of a decent use. I returned the item (I had 90 days to do so) and got my full reimburse. Then,I decided to do a deeper market scouting, and finally I discovered Waring. I am going to be concise: this blender is definitely what I was looking for, strong, powerful, efficient, easy to clean, functional, simple, with no useless gadgets. I love the 1 horse power engine! The plastic jar is light and easy to handle. Yes, you have to put your hand on top of it to hold it, and so what? That will be only for a few seconds because this is a commercial machine that works fast. I do not see any problems with the lid, it is flexible and fits. In conclusion: if you are looking for a blender to be used just once in a while with some soft ingredients, buy anyone. There are plenty of them. But, if you are a serious, I mean, a heavy...

A Good Blender for the Price
Before purchasing this blender, I did a bit of research. I wanted a blender that was powerful enough to blend green smoothies and be able to manage frozen fruit, so I was looking for something that had about 1000 watts. Functionality trumped beauty of design, and I did not want to pay a lot for the blender, so the more powerful blenders costing $500.00 and up were out of the question.This blender met the power and cost parameters, and the reviews were positive enough that I decided to purchase it. In the two weeks that I have had it, I have not been disappointed. The noise that was mentioned in some of the reviews does not bother me, and it does the work of creating green smoothies admirably. My only regret is that I wish the carafe had more capacity-60 ounces would have been nice. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.
