Nothing but CMT for me
I do a lot of woodworking, some for pleasure, some for business. After about a year of using old and inferior bits (hand me downs from my Dad) I broke down and bought a handful of these bits when they were on sale for $10 thinking that they'd last a little while and for the price I could just toss them... how wrong I was. Not only do they produce the best cuts in all wood types (soft, hard, and composites) they last way longer then I ever expected, in fact I still have the first one I bought well over two and a half years ago and it still cuts great (remember to keep your bits properly maintained!).Now the nice thing specific to this bit is that it's an upcut spiral so it directed the chips up and out of the material you are routing. For me, I have my router mounted in a table, so with this bit the chips are directed downward thus keeping my work top/table practically chip free.Just from the fantastic experience I had from this one CMT bit I have since...

QUALITY CMT BIT
This up-cut spiral bit is an excellent choice for many router jobs. Will definetly save wear & tear on basic straight cut router bits! This bit does not leave as smooth an edge as a basic bit, but when you need to make deep cuts, spiral bits are the only way to go. This bit cuts fast and agressivley! I have not noticed any chatter or jumping with this bit, very smooth! I've used mine mainly for cutting out the holes for speaker projects, with the use of a jasper jig! Use this bit on MDF and it cuts through like butter! Would not recommend using on veneer plywoods as it would tend to chip the veneer! A compression or downward spiral bit would work well on veneer's! Very Pleased with the performance of this bit!

Huge Improvement
Perfect. I've been using this bit for a couple weeks now, and it has not let me down in any way. I bought this to replace a lesser brand that broke on me when I was trying to do some long mortises with a straight bit. This one cust clean and perfect holes. Becuase it's an upspiral, it doesn't leave any chips or dust in the hole. No tearout on the exit side either. Whether doing mortises or dados, you can't go wrong with this bit. Don't be tempted to go with a cheap no name brand here, with a bit this small it's easy for the bit to break. This one hasn't let me down.
