Unbelievable!!!
This is an unbelievable movie. I saw it at the IMAX theater and was blown away and now the DVD is almost as good. I want to make a couple of things clear, however. You people who are dogging this DVD for not being widescreen need to understand that the actual IMAX format is not widescreen. It is 4:3, not 16:9. It is IMAX for a reason. This movie and other IMAX movies WILL not and SHOULD not be shown in widescreen format, because that is not the original IMAX format. You people should go see an IMAX movie and notice the square shaped picture and not the rectangle that normal movies are shown. Get a clue. Another thing, making a 3-D DVD is not as simple as throwing in a pair of paper glasses. You must have special equipment including a 3-D projector and special electronic glasses. Even then it will not be the quality of IMAX. Back to the DVD itself. You will not be dissapointed. Unbelievable picture and sound quality makes for the ultimate DVD experience. You will love this...

A good, but somewhat limited, homage to the sport
I come from the heart of NASCAR country, and I have a lot of race memories going back a good quarter of a century now. I love racing, but I really haven't been able to watch it since that black day when Dale Earnhardt lost his life at Daytona; I doubt I'll ever be able to watch another Daytona 500 as long as I live. Still, I'd love to get past the loss of the Man in Black and make NASCAR a part of my Sunday rituals once again. That's the main reason I decided to watch NASCAR: The IMAX Experience. Of course, I have only seen it in the privacy of my own home, so I can't speak to the actual IMAX theatre experience. It's a good show, but I guess I was just expecting a little bit more out of it.The main limitation of the film is its length; you can only say so much about the rich history of NASCAR in forty-eight minutes. There's a decent look at the origins of the sport, but most of the historical attention is placed on a select few superstars of years past. The...

Product Description

Dylan Hargreave thinks I'm an actress paid to pose as his girlfriend at a North Carolina society wedding. How did this happen to me, of all people? Kendall Clarke, award-winning actuary, the veritable shining star of number crunchers who, just hours ago, learned her responsible fiance (sorry, ex-fiance) called off our wedding because he'd gotten one of my colleagues pregnant. What are the odds?

Don't tell me you've never heard of Dylan Hargreave. Celebrity NASCAR driver? People magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year? Those eyes. That smile...

Forget sensible! I've assessed the risk...and I'm taking it! I usually keep the brakes on, but as of now I'm taking a vacation. From me.

very enjoyable and entertaining
Yes, I only read it because it was offered free thru my kindle. That confession out of the way I have to also confess how much I enjoyed reading this. I have no interest in Nascar, so at first I considered not reading it, but it grabbed me. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed reading this. I like sexiness as a general rule, and this had almost no mention of sex. I was thoroughly entertained. So if you enjoy light reading on occasion then go for this. I have no criticisms or downsides, just fun reading. Now I might read some other Nascar related books. Good job whoever it was to offer this for free, you got a new reader for this kind of book.

Satisfying read
I was surprised by how much I liked this book.Kendal Clarke has had one hell of a bad day. On what was supposed to be the best night of her life, she is dumped and eventually locked out of her hotel room half-dressed. Dylan Hargreave mistakes her for the actress he's hired to play his girlfriend for the night. This handsome - "sexiest man of the year" - but spoiled Nascar driver needs to be taken down a peg and meet a down-to-earth girl. One night to escape their separate realities turns into a great friendship that lasts much longer. There are so many books out there that revolve around mistaken identity. 'Speed Dating' does not. For the majority of the book, hero and heroine call each other by the RIGHT name. The story flowed well and it moved quick enough so that I did not feel the need to skim between dialogues. My only problem - and the reason I did not give it 5 stars - was one part of the book. Towards the end there is a section I truly hated...

The perfect book for all NASCAR fans - new and old alike!
NASCAR for Dummies is definitely a "must read" for any NASCAR fan. It is the perfect book for those who are new to NASCAR... and is packed with information which even a veteran fan will appreciate. You'll find in-depth information about a variety of topics, from car tech to how qualifying works... from how points are awarded to what some of the rules and regulations are. You'll find information about all of the different NASCAR Series, how sponsorship works, how to contact your favorite driver - or even get an autograph. There's even advice and tips for attending races in person. The book is also loaded with NASCAR stats on different drivers, tracks and some of the sports history. The best part about this book is that it is not written by a bystander, rather, it is written by one of the top drivers in the sport. Mark Martin is able to provide you with a view of NASCAR which I have not seen in any other book thus far.

Mark Can Do It All!
Mark is an awesome driver and now he's written an awesome book! I've been a NASCAR fan for several years and this book helps answer some of the questions I've had about the sport. Mark gives info on tracks, drivers, rules and how a stock car runs. I recommend this book to all NASCAR fans, male or female, those new to the sport or those who have been following it for years. GO MARK!

Product Description

In addition to a new 8 page, full-color insert, this third edition of NASCAR For Dummies offers readers information on recent changes in technology such as the "Car of Tomorrow" and updates to the information that has made previous editions of NASCAR For Dummies a must-have guide for fans of this exciting sport. Like its teammates in the Dummies series, NASCAR for Dummies is cleverly organized and clearly focused. Winston Cup Series driver Mark Martin is in the driver's seat, providing a speedy tour through America's fastest-growing sport. In typical Dummies style, NASCAR for Dummies is filled with fun stuff such as lists of the 10 greatest drivers of all time, the 10 can't-miss races, and 10 future stars. It also contains plenty of information--from what NASCAR stands for and what makes a stock car a stock car to the rules of Pit Road and quick overviews of the 21 racetracks that host Winston Cup Series races. There's even good, practical advice about attending races (secure lodging well in advance, decide between infield and grandstand tickets, etc.) and pointers on how to best appreciate the televised races. After reading this book, you'll have no trouble qualifying as a NASCAR fan. --Sunny Delaney Top to learn more

Turn left and hit the gas
My boss once jokingly told that's what NASCAR is about: turn left and hit the gas. Then I went to the Alllstate 400 at the Brickyard and now I've read Mark Martin's NASCAR FOR DUMMIES. It's looking a little more complicated than fast left turns. The author's enthusiasm for the sport of NASCAR racing is contagious. As the driver of the Viagra-sponsored car #6 in the Nextel Cup series, he ought to know what he's talking about from the inside out and about 188 mph.Chapter 1 ('NASCAR Racing-the best sport around', pp. 9-24) tells you how men (well, mostly men) driving cars that look vaguely like your father's Taurus ended up racing them around oval tracks in front of millions of spectators and television viewers and why you couldn't possibly not be excited about this. Like most professional sports, NASCAR has acquired corporate sponsors. It is arguably the most logo-plastered sport in the world, a fact that Martin explores in 'The Big Business of...

The science behind the speed
This is an excellent book about how NASCAR race cars are engineered to perform like they do. The author is a college Physics professor and the book is written to explain with basic scientific terms and knowledge that the average reader can understand written in a very interesting manner. The areas discussed include aerodynamics, materials, engines, fuels, tires, shocks, drivetrain and others, and the author spent time with Elliott Sadler and the 19 team both at the shop and the track to help the NASCAR fan understand how things work like they do. I am a long time fan and also an engineer and there was a lot of info that I can use when I give fans pit road and garage tours at Michigan Intl Speedway. This book will help me explain things to the fans in a easy way. This would also be a great book for a high school aged race car enthusiast/budding engineer to help them understand how school subjects like Physics can have exciting real world applications. I was a big...

The Racing of Automobiles - From Inside Out
I'm not a NASCAR fan by any stretch of the imagination. But this book's title intrigued me. Browsing through it and seeing all the interesting diagrams convinced me that I should buy it and read it. I did and I was not disappointed. The author, a physicist, is a gifted expositor of scientific principles at a level ideal for the general reader. She explains, using many useful analogies (and no mathematics), the finer points involved in building an automobile suitable for racing the NASCAR circuits. The book could just as easily have been entitled "The Science of NASCAR" since sciences other than physics are also involved and explained, e.g., chemistry, metallurgy, aerodynamics, engineering, biology, etc. In addition to the science, the author gives a fascinating overview of some of the dedicated people who are involved in building and racing a potentially winning car as they do their work before, during and after a race. The writing style is clear, authoritative, very accessible and...

Don't wait for the movie
This book would translate nicely into a Discovery Channel series. You know, high-interest, science-to-the-masses kind of stuff. Give it a year; it's going to happen! I am a fan of "The Physics Of.." books, and some disappoint: they can be so thorough [read hyper-mathematic] as to resemble homework; or they can be so simplified they read like a children's book. Most land somewhere in between. Take, for instance,Adair's book on the Physics of Baseball: it's fantastic, but I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone. It contains more mathematics than the average Joe (or Jane) is equipped to handle. But this book, The Physics of NASCAR, follows the Goldilocks Principle: it's just right. Not too pithy, not too watered down. High interest, easy access, entertaining insights. If you like popular science, you'll enjoy this book. Personally, I love the way the author pulls in characters from the NASCAR family. It gives the book personality! She does a great job with the science as well. There were...

Product Description

Every NASCAR fan – at one time or another – asks the same question: Why isn’t my favorite driver winning? This is your chance to discover how much more there is to NASCAR than “Go fast, turn left and don’t crash.” If you’ve ever wondered why racecars don’t have mufflers, how “bump drafting” works, or what in the world “Let’s go up a pound on the right rear and add half a round of wedge” means, The Physics of NASCAR is for you.

In this fast-paced investigation into the adrenaline-pumping world of NASCAR, a physicist with a passion uncovers what happens when the rubber hits the road and 800- horsepower vehicles compete at 190 miles per hour only inches from one another.

Diandra Leslie-Pelecky reveals how and why drivers trust the engineering and science their teams literally build around them not only to get them across the finish line in first place, but also to keep them alive. Professor Leslie-Pelecky is a physicist in love with the sport’s beauty and power and is uniquely qualified to explain exactly how physics translates into winning races.

Based on the author’s extensive access to race shops, pit crews, crew chiefs and mechanics, this book traces the life cycle of a race car from behind the scenes at top race shops to the track. The Physics of NASCAR takes readers right into the ultra competitive world of NASCAR, from the champion driver’s hot seat behind the detachable steering wheel to the New Zealander nicknamed Kiwi in charge of shocks for the No. 19 car.

Diandra Leslie-Pelecky tells her story in terms anyone who drives a car--and maybe occasionally looks under the hood--can understand. How do drivers walk away from serious crashes? How can two cars travel faster together than either car can on its own? How do you dress for a 1800°F gasoline fire? In simple yet detailed, high-octane prose, this is the ultimate thrill ride for armchair speed demons, auto science buffs, and NASCAR fans at every level of interest.

Readers, start your engines.

Most people would prefer something better than that, particularly if they were collecting memorabilia, and while a monogrammed ball hat is good, it would be a lot better to have an authentic NASCAR hat than any old hat with a logo or name printed... For many, NASCAR hats and caps are fascinating items, both for collecting and for everyday wear, and are just two of the reasons for the craze for buying NASCAR gear and collectibles. As previously mentioned, some fans love to collect die cast NASCAR cars that represent some of the great stock cars driven over the years, from Cup series to the Daytona. Most NASCAR gear on sale is new, with car manufacturers and models printed or embroidered on it, but you occasionally come across something genuine autographed by the driver. Those that collect NASCAR hats and other memorabilia naturally prefer to get their hands on any gear or mementoes from these days onwards, and while they sometimes appear in yard and garage sales, the genuine articles are more likely to be found... There are many more where that came from, and you can find a wide range of NASCAR gear online, including monogrammed jackets and ball caps. You can often find pretty good deals using online auction sites, and as this page was written there was an authentic NASCAR hat on sale for $129.

Most people would choose one thing a lot better than that will, particularly when these were accumulating keepsakes, and even though a initialed or monogrammed soccer ball cap is great, it could be a whole lot better on an authentic Dale earnhardt... Among the other pursuits along with varieties of keepsakes available are die cast autos, modelling individuals powered from the famous motorists like Dale Jarrett as well as Dale Earnhardt – Mature and also Senior : and also attire including... For most, Dale earnhardt jr . less difficult and also caps are generally exciting goods, both pertaining to amassing and for daily put on, and they are merely two of the causes to the craze for purchasing Dale earnhardt gear as well as collectors...
