inexpensive good custom retainer
This worked well. The company sent materials for making an imprint of my teeth to my house. I sent it back and the custom retainer came quickly. Much easier and cheaper than appointments at the dentist's office.

Product Description
Our retainers are created from one layer of clear hard
Essix laminate material. This device is designed to prevent the teeth from
moving or shifting; it will not move the teeth. Our retainers are better looking
and more effective than the traditional wire retainers.
Your custom retainers will be created in our own dental
office by a full time laboratory technician with 15+ years experience. The
entire operation is under the direct supervision of a dentist with over 30 years
in the practice. You can be assured you will receive a professionally
manufactured product.
With your order you will receive:
2 sets of impression material (Part A & B)
2 Adjustable impression tray
2 Return bags
1 Instruction pamphlet
1 Return form
1 Prepaid postage return label (domestic orders only)
To Create Impression:
Adjust the dental tray to the size of your mouth.
The tray can be made smaller by snapping off a section(s) of the plastic
in the rear of the impression tray.
Vigorously mix both parts (A & B) of impression material together
Roll
into a 4 to 5 inch tube.
Place impression material uniformly into the tray and firmly push onto
your teeth.
It will take about 4 minutes for the material to fully harden.
Remove tray in a single motion, by pulling either up or down.
Rinse tray and seal in enclosed bag.
Complete form and wait 2 weeks to allow your guard to be created.
In your return package you will receive:
1 Set of custom upper and lower retainers
1 case (select color on return form)

If you use a retainer the way you're supposed to every day, they break eventually. So every couple of years we've been spending a lot at the orthodontist for a replacement. This was a great find! You do have to be careful about following the instructions & don't put too much goo into a small mouth. (Actually, I wouldn't want to do this process with a small child - mine's a teen.) You do have to be patient while it hardens up - but they know the drill from doing it at the orthodontist already. We also measured the tray carefully first & snapped off the ends where it was too big - per the instructions. The result was exactly like what we pay double for at the orthodontist!

Great customer service experience so far
I purchased this retainer kit, made my impressions and sent them off... I received my retainers in the mail about three weeks later. The top piece fits fine, but not the bottom. There is a very obvious "slope" on the front teeth portion where my actual teeth are very straight across. Groan. I was not looking forward to dealing with customer service when there are many reviews for this item saying their customer service in this situation is not good. However, I have not experienced that so far.I called the number on the package and spoke to a very nice man. He collected some information from me regarding the shape of my teeth and the retainer. He said the doctor would look at the molds and impressions they had and would determine at which step in the process the error originated. He said they would email me when they pinpointed the source of the problem.Within an hour, I got an email saying the molds looked fine (as I described my teeth to look), meaning the only...
