Nutrition considerations if depend on large amounts of hemp
Despite claims to the contrary, hemp protein is not a complete protein. It is very weak in lysine, and doesn't have enough leucine and tryptophan. Because of this, if you eat it in large quantities, especially in a vegetarian diet, it cannot count gram for gram. That is not to say it is not a very positive element of a well balanced diet in reasonable diet proportions or when complementary proteins balance the weaknesses. One tip: Protein from almonds and almond milk are also just as incomplete in lysine.Hemp seed protein has all essential amino acids - just not in the optimal proportions. Excellent Brand!
This is a fine protein supplement. The carbs in one serving are almost nonexistent which leaves room for one's creativity to take over with their own combinations. I start with a cup or so of low-fat Silk soy milk in the blender and add: one scoop of the protein, a half cup frozen blueberries or strawberries, a teaspoon of honey, a drizzle of vanilla extract, a 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. I also add a serving of glutamine, . The end result is a deliciously tasting nutritious drink. The brand is one I will most definitely purchase again!

It is really good--if you blend it with bananas!
I have been on Amazon and other sites for a day and a half now reading all the reviews on vegan protein (the main three brands--this one, Sun Warrior and Vega). I too, was hesitant to try it, but I went to my local health food store and bought a couple of the sample packets to try. I honestly think it is really really good! Here's a little background on me and what helps: I have a Vita Mix, which I think is essential, or at least a blender, but a Vita Mix will turn any graininess into something smooth (anyone who has one probably knows what it will do to cashews). It took me a while to learn how to make and drink a decent green smoothie as well, so I have consumed green things and stuff that many people do curl their noses at, including raw brownies which I thought were good, but someone used to eating crap thought it tasted like crap.First, I really think if you are someone who is used to highly sweetened and artificially flavored processed foods, you may not like...

I take protein supplements daily and this was recommended to me by an employee at the local Feel Rite Fresh Market. I think it's a great product, I'm a huge fan of anything oranic, raw and sprouted and to get all three in one product is fantastic. This doesn't have much of a flavor, it's kind of plain/neutral and chalky tasting but that doesn't bother me at all. I usually mix it with water since I don't drink juice being on a controlled calorie diet but I could probably mix this with green tea and a little stevia, which I actually think would taste fine. best flavor period.
i used to eat power bars and luna bars- but after i found pure protein bars with 20 g of protein and less calories (170 calories) I made the switch... whenever i'm craving a candy bar- i eat one of the chocolate deluxe ones. which in my opinion is the best flavor.the texture is soft and chewy- with the occasional chocolate chip chunk- and it's super yummy. not too sweet and not bland at all...the strawberry cheesecake is good when you want something yogurty- but after awhile the gooey strawberry goodness starts to taste a little plasticine.the chocolate chip cookie- starts off good- like eating a bar of raw cookie dough- but after the first two bites it starts tasting a little "proteiny". (a bland kinda gritty taste that i always associate with these kinds of bars)the smores is definately my least favorite. biting into it is pleasurable- with it's fluffy marshmallow top and soft graham crackery bottom... but it tastes a little odd... GREAT Taste!
Have never been a big meat-eater, but cut back even more a few months ago. I began supplementing my diet with more beans/legumes, but was not feeling nutritionally satisfied, and realized I was not getting enough protein. Did a little research, and discovered that hemp was ideal for meeting protein requirements, and according several articles I read, it has many other nutritional and health benefits as well. I purchased the Nutiva hemp protein powder in conjunction with the Better Than Milk "Rice" (to avoid over use of soy). According to directions for both products, I mix 4 tablespoons hemp protein and 2 tablespoons of BTM, in water. It mixes easily in a regular plastic shaker, and I don't even have to use the "de-clumping" attachment that fits inside the shaker. It's just Shake-N-Go! This combination has been the perfect way to start my day. I was concerned about the taste, as some reviews I have read rated the taste of hemp very low. I can't speak for other brands, but the... SOME PEOPLE SEEM TO GET HEMP POWDER AND HEMP SEEDS MIXED UP. THEY ARE BOTH GREAT PRODUCTS, PUT THE POWDER IS WHAT YOU WANT FOR SMOOTHIES AND SUCH. THE HEMP SEEDS ARE FOR SPRINKLING ON SALADS AND SUCH!!!! This is a great product, have used every day for last 3 years. Since it is raw and in it's natural state, you body has to do "no work" to process and digest it, thus that energy is used to do other things (like staw awake at work). Yes the amount of protein is 11 grams per serving, but since it is raw and in its natural state, the body will assimilate more of it that many protein sources with 2 or 3 times as much protein. The more nutrition in any food, the less your body needs to be happy. I do about 20 grams per serving since I'm near 200 pounds. But forget about the concept of grams of protein per serving, think more in terms of how much of a protein your body can process and assimilate from the protein source. THE Perfect Protein
1) PURITY: It has one ingredient, whey protein isolate. May the perfectionist in you rejoice!2) SOLUBILITY: It dissolves super easy. A 3-second whiz in the blender is enough, or about 30 seconds of stirring.3) DRINKABILITY: It lends absolutely NO texture to whatever liquid you add it to. If you mix it with water, the finished product retains the viscosity of water! I was shocked at it's textural neutrality, unlike soy isolate, which has a chalky mouth-feel, (yuck!)4) VERSATILITY: It's 99% tasteless. (Somewhat like if you put a teaspoon of skim milk in a glass of water, lol) You can add it to almost ANYTHING! (EXCEPT HOT LIQUIDS, THE PRODUCT WILL IRREVERSIBLY CURDLE! As a side note, acid does NOT curdle the protein. I've even added it to straight lemon juice without curds forming. The Best Protein
I'm a personal trainer, nutritionist, and former bodybuilder. The pure unflavored whey protein isolate is definitely the best protein powder you can find. There are many health benefits to using whey protein, but with all of the artificial sweeteners and additives in most powders, those health benefits are ruined. Insulin sensitivity is a major factor when it comes to burning fat and building muscle. Lack of insulin sensitivity is the reason for sugar cravings and getting the shakes when you don't have your Coke or Pepsi everyday. Whey protein is proven to improve insulin sensitivity more than any other protein source, but common additives like Acesulfame and Aspartame cause insulin secretion much like sugar, and that diminishes the whey's ability to increase insulin sensitivity. The key to burning fat 24 hours a day is to keep your insulin in a low to moderate range, and avoiding spikes.As for guys trying to build big muscles, insulin and growth hormone are very important... Great Protein Source for Weight Loss Surgery Patients or Lactose Intolerant
I was a bit skeptical about using this to supplement my protein needs. It mixes easily in a blender, and you really can mix it with nearly everything. I use it to thicken up soups, in smoothies, and I sprinkle some in oatmeal and cold cereals.Because I need at least 100 grams of protein each day, I find it hard to do that without driving up my fat, cholesterol, and caloric intake. I began using whey protein several years ago, but my lactose intolerance has also gotten considerably more sensitive. Using this product 2-3 times each day has helped me to maintain my protein needs without ANY of the usual side affects from whey protein (without isolate). An expensive but healthy food
These berries are thought to be one of the one of the healthiest natural foods. There are many "stories" about the amazing benefits of these berries, many of which may be true, but a few verifiable facts about them (in dried form) follow:1) High protein (about 12%), and are a complete protein. This is good for anybody, but particularly noteworthy to vegans, who choose not to get their protein from meats.2) Decent fiber content (about 10%)3) 18 (!!) amino acids4) Like most sweet fruits, high in carbs and calories. 100 grams give you about 350-380 calories; roughly 3/4 from carbs and 1/4 from fat.5) 6 vitamins, 8 amino acids, 11+ minerals (more in trace amounts)6) Carotenoids, unsaturated fatty acids (this is a good thing), phytosterols (help lower cholesterol), and other healthy (or theoretically healthy but not particularly well researched) phytochemicals.Enough with the technical jargon. These supposedly have some of the highest levels of antioxidants of any food, which is why I bought them. But I really like the taste too. It's not too far off from a cross between a tomato and a strawberry, but a very little bit bitter at times.Overall they taste great, though some kids might not like them due to the slight bitterness.Edit: A few of these berries have a bit of mold on them.
