2012 is certainly heating up to be another banner year for minimalist running shoes. For the past two years, I've been on a journey to search for the perfect minimal shoe for myself. Fortunately, I've been able to wear-test almost every pair of barefoot-style running shoe on the planet. My bare feet have tested more minimalist running shoes in every sub-category (road, trail, casual, recovery, water, fitness) than Runner's World and Running Times combined - almost 100 to date!

After wearing and testing minimalist running shoes for the past two years starting with the Vibram Five Fingers KSO (keep stuff out), I still haven't found the perfect road, trail, casual, and dress shoe. But I found many 'almost perfect' shoes for each occasion and the list following is what I am currently comfortable wearing.

***UPDATED, IMPORTANT EDIT*** December 2011: Zoom has released a new firmware at their Japanese website (which acts as a download center for their US consumers). There are a few bug fixes (bootup is much faster, I've noticed) as well as new functionality: Using your H1 as a USB audio interface!Go to zoom.co.jp and click the "downloads" link at the top. Find the link for the H1 under "Recorders." There's an updated manual for version 2.0 as well in Acrobat format. Enjoy!   Zoom quality audio
  I had the Zoom H2 for years and loved it. One day, I plugged in the wrong AC adaptor and fried the unit. ugh!I was familiar with the H2 and was comfortable with it but its tiny screen was hard for me to read and it took quite a bit of time for me to get used to the interfacing.The H1 is simple and having the controls on the device make it far more user friendly. It is tiny, smaller than I thought, which is great.The sound quality is equal to the Q3, though this tiny unit feels fragile compared to the Q3. The plastic concerns me as I'm not sure it will hold up well. The Q3 feels more solid. I don't have a professional musician's ear, but the sound quality seemed to me to equal the recordings I have done with the H2. The "cd quality" sound is what I got when recording guitar, harmonica and vocals.Other reviewers have wisely recommended the protective case and the mics are highly sensitive.   Great but not idiot proof
  I own a Zoom H4N. I bought the H1 so I could do casual recording of live music while out in bars. The Pros: It has great mikes, like all ZOOMs. It does a nice job of being directional (and minimizing crowd conversations, etc). At one gig, it was set a couple of feet in front of us on the table, and picked up almost no talking. It is VERY tiny, and you could probably turn it on and stick it to a wall with some double-sided carpet tape (getting above the crowd noise). I am working out how to bungie cord it to a pole. Although starting it up take a full minute with a 16GB card, once it is on it is unobtrusive and fits in my pocket even with a mini-tripod attached.The Big Con. The auto-level will drive you insane. After recording three different bands, I can say that unless I learn more than I already know, using the autolevel is useless in a band/bar environment. It will record at full volume for a while (5-15 seconds of the song) , and then dramatically cut the gain (50% or...

Best Leather conditioner available..
I have been a leather craftsman since 1955. I found Leather Honey in the 60's, but it disappeared for a while. It is really great to see it back on the market. I make leather goods and use Leather Honey to help preserve the leather and restore suppleness. It works great.When using tooling leather, the dry leather is first moistened with water, carved and tooled. Then the finish is applied. The finish must penetrate the leather and preserve it. Leather Honey does this better than any other finish that I have used. The suppleness that was removed in the tanning process is restored, the leather is protected from drying and cracking and a beautiful, durable lasting finish is obtained. AMAZING!
I live in the desert and my very expensive leather couch has really taken a beating with the lack of moisture in the air. I have used no less than 10 other products to condition my cracking sofa. They all seem to work for a day or two and then the dryness and cracking return. I purchased this product and followed the simple instructions and I am amazed! My couch looks fantastic- it is still worn (as a 15 year old couch should be) but the rough, brittle feeling to the leather is gone. Insanely good stuff
I'm the type of person that "when in doubt", leave it alone. I have a leather couch and recliner that were nice, but about four years old. Started to look dingy with some deep lines forming. Didn't know what to do... didn't want to make it worse so I left it alone. Then I came online and tried leather honey. It's amazing. Used less than half the bottle (I used alot) and the leather just loves the stuff. I saddle soaped it first, then let it dry. Leather honey is not a cleaner, but a conditioner.Get a soft cloth. It's a little hard at first, because the leather honey is thick. Once the rag gets saturated it goes on real easy.Now I remember the luster and shine it had when new. Only now its even better because its broken in. I always wondered how to take care of leather. Now I know.I will use this on everything leather from now on, boots, coats, baseball gloves. i gave it to my son for his 4th bday. its almost a month now and it is still in one piece. he has tossed it dragged it on the ground pulled on its parts and its still going. lasted a lot longer than i thought. he has no trouble using it either. its simple to transform which is the main reason i bought it. great quality for a good price.

Easy enough for an almost 2 year old
I cringe anytime my wife buys our 4 year old another transformer. I am not good with these types of toys but my son loves them. When i got this one, I was happily surprised to find that it can be transformed with just a few simple twists and turns. In fact, my 4 year old quickly tossed it aside and handed it to my 1 and a half year old who easily converted it back to a truck.The toy is very sturdy and has held up well with my little one tossing it around a bit. I think the recommended age for this transformer is more based on the type of toy that it is rather than the difficulty level. I would prefer my kids to play with more educational toys, however, I grew up with these types of toys so I find it hard to not let them play with them. So this has lived mostly in the hands of my 1 and a half year old who prefers playing with it in its truck form. My 4 year basically does not have any interest in it as he prefers the more complicated ones to transform (that I can't...

fun and entertaining for the young ones
I'm not sure what it is about transformers, but I've never seen a little boy who didn't like them. I first bought them for my son, who is now in his thirties. However, some of the other versions are much more complicated than this inexpensive toy. It appears sturdy and my grandson transforms it A LOT. He just turned 4, and it is easy for him to maneuver, and his uses his imagination with it as he uses it to play with his other toys. He enjoys it mostly in its robot form and carries it around all of the time. I plan on buying more of these for my grandsons.
