They grew!
These are lemon grass seeds for the grass that is commonly used as a seasoning in South Asian cooking. (The Fire Bowl chain of restaurants has a coconut milk soup called Yom Ka which uses lemon grass.)These seeds came up fine, even in 108 degree Austin heat. Start them in a pot of well-mulched, loose dirt that has a clear plastic bag over the top to create a minature greenhouse. (Translucent grocery produce bags will do.) They won't sprout unless they are humid, not wet.I have little green shoots of lemon grass from these. So far, so good.

Pleasantly surprised
Most of the web sources on sprouting and growing lemongrass seeds claim that the seeds are hard to germinate, take over a month to sprout and have a poor germination rate.I was pleasantly surprised when the majority of my seeds germinated within a week of planting. I planted them in a standard seed tray with a moisture dome and placed them in a southern window. They sprouted within a week. The temperatures have been in the high 70, low 80.I am very pleased with this product.

First of, don't expect all seeds to grow. There are casualty when it come to planting seeds, I guess. It will take about 4-5 days before you see little leaves grow out from dirt. Growing in nursery box is very helpful. I am happy with the out come, with good care, hopefully it will continue to mature. Top to learn more
