Straight to the point
Money well spent. I keep referring back to this book, it is very hands on and applicable to the real world. So many other books are written by obviously very intelligent and successful people, but 50% of it applies to my business, and the other 50% is interesting but just doesn't fit my organization. While reading Karl's book, I get the feeling that he's been where I have been, and can help me move forward and improve my business. I read a lot of technical material but Karl's stuff is very process oriented, which is where I need the most help! Thanks, Daniel By the way I would also recommend looking into Karl's service agreements book, it goes hand in hand with this book, together they helped me more than I could have imagined.

A Big Help
I read this book in conjunction with "Service Agreements for SMB Consultants." Until recently I had only done "break-fix" work. I needed a guide to to help me get clearer on what I was offering and how to present it to the client. The material in this book helped me do just that. It contains invaluable advice on deciding what to offer, and how to communicate it to the client in a way that will increase the chances that the outcome will be successful. The information is broken down in a way that is very manageable, rather than overwhelming. I was a little nervous about the undertaking of putting together a package to present to a prospective client. It felt much more manageable and doable with this book as a guide. After my first sit-down with a prospective managed service client, the client commented on the quality of the presentation. They signed a contract a week later. Of course your mileage may vary, but I feel the help I got from this book was invaluable in steering...

It's not too late! YOU can get into Managed Services -- in a month. All you need is a little guidance and how-to instruction. As Karl says, lots of people have done this and you can, too. Even if you decide not to become an MSP (managed service provider), this book is full of great advice about taking stock of your business, "weeding your client garden," adjusting your prices, and other best practices for the SMB Consultant. This book is guaranteed to improve your business. Hundreds of people have taken the challenge and become MSPs in a month -- and so can you! Managed Services In A Month was inspired by Karl's very successful blog postings on the same topic. All computer consultants want to do a good job. How do you do that and create a stream of recurring revenue at the same time? How do you get your cash flow straightened out? How do you move your current clients from reactive break/fix consulting to a managed model? What tools should you invest in? What do you need to know that you haven't even thought of yet? Karl answers these questions and a lot more. This Great Little Book doesn't waste time on theories or an "unbiased" evaluation of the situation. Instead, Karl cuts right to the heart of the matter: What you can do right now to transform your business to a Managed Service model -- in 30 days or less. Thousands of computer consultants have benefited from Karl's advice and books over the years. Now you, too, can see why his books are so popular. Managed Services In A Month is a great, no-nonsense guide to improving your business today. Top to learn more

Phenomenal Managed Service Book
Every Small Business consultant needs to read this book. Yes, it's an awesome guide to managed services. But it's also a great guide to deciding which services to sell, how to price them, how to sell them, and how to "deliver" after you've inked the deal. Did you need to know how to run a help desk? Or how to create an escalation procedure? It's all here. You'll save literally hundreds -- maybe thousands of hours of work by reading this book. I run a very successful managed services business and I learned a great deal from this book. Simpson deserves a big hand for putting together such a valuable guide. It takes less than one hour of consulting labor to pay for this book. It is more than worth it!

If you provide managed services, read this book. If you don't... READ THIS BOOK!
The IT pro industry has gone through many changes over the past 5 and 10 years. One thing that has remained constant is the lack (until now) of a "How do to it right" manual and set of processes. Providing Managed Services today is, in my opinion the only way for an IT consulting firm - especially ones focused on the SMB space to survive. This book provides the real world information and tools you need to understand and implement Managed Services in your company. The authors have obviously LIVED the transition from break fix to recurring revenue streams, and have provided a roadmap to success for others looking to make the same transition. My company spent a year trying to make managed services work. This book helped us plan, execute and fine tune our offering to the point where we are now billing close to $200,000.00 in managed services, have happier customers, and less stressed staff. If you have even CONCIDERED looking at managed...

Buy Kaseya

In working with Kaseya to reseed the backup and make it faster we learned that the replication process looks at the files at the colo one time and notes the file name in a text file. , Kaseya had a BUDR solution that plugged right in.  .  They gave me a 30 day trial which had to be extended 2X because I couldn’t get it to work.   Now all I needed was a good backup solution that integrated with Kaseya.  Let me preface this by saying we are still a current customer of Kaseya and are attempting to get resolution to these issues. , a one time notation of the file name in a plain text file is how they keep track of what needs to be replicated.  In November of 2008 purchased 1000 seats of Kaseya VSA.   This was going to be a new install on new hardware with a fresh install of the OS and IIS.   After 2 days of this not installing, and dealing with level 1 support I get escalated to level 2 support and get this answer.   I have to say a full 90% of the time i do this, my brain screws me.   This is one of those times.  The offsite replication was so slow and clunky no customer was ever even close to having all of their files replicated.   It even crashed one of my clients servers while trying to install it.  .  We did end up getting it to work and $4200 later and I had a brand new shiny BUDR solution.   Two months and ALOT of time on phone and email support I finally got the first files to replicate.   After 2 weeks, we had less than 2 days transferred.
I have pretty good instincts, but sometimes I let my brain override my instincts.

Most recently I heard our best bet was to hope for an official announcement at the Kaseya User Conference (May 2012) since most major product updates/announcements are done then. I consider Monitoring, Device Management and Remote Control the 3 most 'core' features of Kaseya. Sure, I was glad when they gave out a bunch of free seats since nobody is buying it. But realy we're all just being asked to really fall in love with the product so we'll buy it for our future seats. You can imagine my suprise when "Kaseya Network Monitoring" came out as an add-on. While David is teasing Kaseya, deep down we're all worried about this. First they charged for it. Then they offered 5 of the tools of it for free so you could get a taste and hopefully buy the full KNM. I was fed some info about the new Remote Control product early/mid 2011.

Address translation is done purely via google though so if you separate your addresses by commas I think you'll find Google accurately finds the location. I am new for Kaseya, I tried all steps above which is a fantastic feature you have given us. thanks for this. If you require better IP-to-Location accuracy, you can buy their commercial database from Maxmind directly, www. if (loginName == "null") loginName = xlate("none",false). I have followed the instructions however when I try to access either the 2d or 3d maps I am getting the following error.
