Hellgate: London PC DVD Top to learn more

It’s 2038, and London lies in ruins...

From Flagship Studios – creators of the award-winning Diablo® series and the fathers of the action role playing genre – comes HellGate: London, the next benchmark in the evolution of the RPG genre.

Combining the depth of traditional RPGs with the frenetic, visceral feel of first-person shooters, HellGate: London offers infinite replayability with dynamically created levels, monsters, items and events that gives each player their own unique hack-and-slash experience.

A post-apocalyptic London has been overrun by hordes of terrifying demons, leaving the city desolate and scorched by hellfire. Those who were unlucky enough to survive now gather in the only sanctuary left, the Underground, banding together in order to gain a foothold against the minions of darkness and ultimately save the bloodline of humanity.

It is no surprise that these sole survivors come from three of society’s most elite factions, each of whom are masters of a robust number of skills and weapons essential to demon-thrashing.

The Templar, a secret society preserving the rites of the original Knights Templar, mix futuristic technology with ancient artifacts to create powerful weapons and armor perfect for short-ranged and melee attacks.

The Cabalists are students of the dark arts and edges of science which often leaves them standing right on the line between good and evil. Their mystifying spells make them suited for mid-range combat.

The Hunters are mysterious, highly trained ex-military operatives who lay waste to their foes with hyper-advanced weapons that blend theoretical science and the latest in technology – and their bullets can come from almost any distance.

HellGate: London delivers an amazing gaming experience to PC gamers of all types – delivering the eye-popping DX10 visuals demanded by the hardcore, and scaling to ensure the masses of casual RPG players can still get the best performance on older PCs.

Key Features

  • The RPG Authority – Flagship Studios was founded by the core creators of Diablo, one of the biggest PC gaming franchises in history with over 13 million units sold worldwide – they are the first, last and only voice in the world of action RPGs.

  • Have it your way - Three unique factions with their own visual and gameplay style, offering something for every type of gamer, whether they prefer the longer-range blasts of the Hunter or want to get up close and personal with the Templar.
  • Infinite Replayability – Dynamically generated levels, chance events and massive quantities of randomly created items makes for infinite replayability -- no two experiences will ever be the same and every game will be it’s own unique event.
  • Mad Skills – Each faction has three character classes that contain a wide variety of skills and spells that are fully customizable.

Finally a good effort
If you don't want to read this long review, let me simply say that Hellgate London is a good game, and definitely worth the money. But if you want to know a little more...Let me start off by just saying it... Diablo 2.There are few games out there that are of such a high quality that they become the standard that others have to beat, that they become the thing that is used to compare. Diablo 2 is such a game. It is the game of which it is said with other games; `Diablo also had that' or `unlike Diablo.'So, here we are, Hellgate London; the game that wants to take over from Diablo. Can it? Well, yes and no. Yes in the fact that over the years there have been many Diablo clones, and none came close to `the real stuff.' Hellgate does. Hellgate comes close and even surpasses in some areas, like graphics. But then again, what would you would expect from a new game that is trying to beat a, what, ten year old game? Also, one very...

Good Book, Unfortunatly it doesnt go anywhere....
The 1st and 2nd books were really great and i was hoping that in the 3rd book they managed to gain access to knowladge that helped the templar kick some demon arse!!!But unfortunatly it was just more of the same, demon kicking butt and the templar kick a little arse where they could. I must admit i hate demon and invasion books where they dont finally beat those buggers back to where they came from.Otherwise the triligy was good and entertaining but i guess not all storys will end the way we want it too.3/5Nice storyExitingEnding was a let down but i enjoyed the book none the less!!

Promising, so promising, so why doesn't the book deliver ?
I'm ignoring the fact the book is based on a computer game. The book has all the ingregients one needs to make a master piece. Demons. Inter dimensional invaders. Magic. Knights. Sharpshooters. An apocalyptic London. But somehow it manages to botch everything up.The plot is only half believable, as if describing the demons is more important. You have to have a story, not only monsters! it's as if the author forgot it. The characters are only paper thin, no real depth to anyone. And you can guess what will happen next and be right seventy precent of the time. But, Why did I still gave it three stars? Because the demon description is pretty good, as are the fights. And the scenery. It's fun to read, if you don't put too much thought into it.It could have been so much better ! Such a shame.

Best new Sci-Fi series in ages
I have read both the Hellgate: London Exodus and this book and am amazed at this series. It is refreshingly new with many surprises and opens up a whole new concept in this genre. I am not sure if this dark fantasy, sci-fi or what but this is far better than anything that many a significant author has produced in the last 5 years. It has all the things we really want in Sci-fi, mayhem, an actual plot and some actually intelligent conservation with out to much tedium. I would rank this series up there easily with the Warlord of Barsoom series or to if there is anything slightly similiar I guess the Trollslayer series for an enjoyable book to read. I really suggest this book for all.

Product Description

The trilogy that began
in Exodus continues:

2024: Four years after the Demons opened the planar rift known as the Hellgate, mankind's desperate struggle to survive continues. Simon Cross, expatriate of the secret Templar order, works to find and transport survivors out of the ruined city. Hiding within London's Underground system, Simon is raising an army to fight against the encroaching Darkness. Now, he battles the monsters that roam the city and fends off a jealous Knight who plans to take Simon down...all while striving to reunite the divided Templar forces.

Warren Schimmer, a Cabalist who is magically linked to a powerful demon, searches for Goetia. Also known as the Lesser Key of Solomon, this ancient artifact could provide the forces of good or evil with an edge in the ongoing war. Standing in his path is Simon Cross. Warren has made a bargain with his Demon lord for survival and the promise of vengeance against the persuasive Templar...but a Demon's promise is made to be broken. Top to learn more

Better then expected
In general, I don't like books written on the base of a game (board or computer). They usually fall very short of the mark. However in this case the opposite is true. While the computer game of the same name is forgettable the book set up an intriguing base - somewhat similar to the old TORG game.Hellgate starts off with an "alien" invasion of London. The aliens are that only because they are not human. Instead of space the invasion comes from a different dimension, and the aliens are demons. This certainly resembles the old TORG game. The demons are not only killing off the human population, but they are demon-forming the city to their own tastes. This recalls the Gerrold Chthorr series (which seems to have stopped midway). The Templar, Cabal and special forces - all fighting against the demons - are also fighting amongst themselves, adding to the confusion. I greatly prefer this much more realistic scenario then the usual ones where the Earth "pulls...

Hellgate: Goetia Rocks and Socks!
Mel Odom's 2nd volume in the Hellgate London trilogy is yet another hardcore sci-fi/fantasy action/adventure that breathes a breath of fresh air in both genres.Although my wife and I aren't gamers, we know all about them. And we knew certain games such as this and Turok could make for exciting book series. (Turok has yet been made in novel form. Let us hope.) But this latest Odom story does not have that '2nd book syndrome' that seems to plague many such trilogies.Like Mel did years ago for the franchises of Deathlands and Outlanders, he creates vivid scenery and mulit-faceted characters of both Good and Evil. Where both series of the above mentioned have quagmired in either rich storylines and/or deep characterizations, in Hellgate London Odom utilizes the strengths of those post-holocaust series and enriches this series with those undertones. No formulaic writing here! The magic of Mel Odom's writing is his ability to grab hold of the reader from...

KillinVisioN
I will be curt. This game is much better than I expected. PLENTY of gameplay time. PLENTY of killin' to du! Reminds me a lot of "Return To Castle Wolfenstien", and a "Half-Life" horror mod("They Hunger")which I played several years ago, that was exceptionally SPOOKY! Installed and runs smoothly on my system(old-ass DELL XPS3, Pentium 4, 3.4 GHz, 2GB ram, NVidia GForce 9800 GT). Price I paid for the game was really RIGHT(< $10USD)! The graphics are GOOD. Soundtracks, and sound effects are especially "spooky" and appropriate throughout. I advise players to search and explore the environments WELL, for hidden areas and health packs, ammo, etc. when you are not being attacked by enemies. Im not even done playing this game, and Im already posting a positive feedback on it, lol. Occasionally I use the cheats, and the game is still a lotta FUN! For FPS fans, well worth $[...] bucks, imho. Can't wait to buy and play the sequel NecroVisioN pc game! Just waiting on the price to drop, lol.

Pleasantly surprising supernatural-themed WWI FPS
Despite it's silly sounding and rather irrelevant title, Necrovision was quite a fun supernatural-themed WWI FPS. You play as a young American soldier named Simon Bukner who was recently recruited into a British batallion. Simon soon finds himself battling supernatural forces (zombies, demons, vampires etc.) in addition to German troops in order to survive. I finished it the other night and had a good time playing through it. Here are my thoughts on Necrovision;PROS:+ Nice graphics. While not groundbreaking there's quite a bit of eye candy in the game to be seen. Bosses looked great, were fun to fight and not frustratingly difficult to defeat. Some distance views were a bit blurry and the sky at times was solid, unmoving and boring for the most part things looked great. I have a decent system and the only slowdown I experienced was when there was too much fire on the screen, which can be quite a bit at times as you're tossing fireballs around in the...

One of the best games I've played and here's why...
Necrovision is a great action FPS game in the tradition of the Painkiller games. Basically, it consists of a series of levels that each get slightly more aggressive as the game goes on.Typical of most shooters, weapons, ammo, and health kits are distributed throughout the game. Weapons start simple and get more powerful as you progress through the game. The weapons are quite well conceived. The initial weapons are WWI vintage. Melee weapons include a bayonet and shovel. There are pistols, a rifle, a sniper rifle, a shot gun, a machine gun,and grenade launcher. There are grenades and oil lamps that you can throw and there is dynamite for blowing up barricades. From there you move on to more potent and futuristic weapons including a machine gun, shot gun, grenade launcher, and flame thrower. Finally, there is the "shadow hand" which is a powerful claw for close in fighting. It also shoots balls of fire, spikes, and bolts of electricity if your adrenaline level is...
