Great deal
At a little over 10 bucks for 8 of these, you can't go wrong. These are just your basic CFLs, at the 2700 kelvin temperature range. That means they're about the same shade as your basic ordinary 60W incandescent bulb. A pale yellow white, not pure white (5100 Kelvin), or daylight (around 6300 Kelvin).Pure white or daylight CFLS cost more because the phosphors in them are more expensive, but they do have the advantage of being more natural light, rather than imitating the poor quality light of an ordinary light bulb.So if you're thinking of upgrading to CFLs these bulbs are a great deal to start from. But do take advantage of the technology & get a higher quality light at a higher color temperature for some of your areas, & enjoy better quality light, rather than just using CFLs that imitate the poor quality light of old fashioned light bulbs.Winter depression can be triggered by lack of natural light because of less hours of daylight, &...

CFL Facts and figures
Things to look on the package:1. Kelvin temperature (K): The only accurate measurement for the kind of light or "color" of light you'll get. 2700K is pretty close to the "warm" incandescent we are all used to, 4100/4200K is known as "Cool White" (you might look "ghostly under that) and 5,000+ is the daylight/sunlight. If the lamps do not have the K designation, do not buy them - they are the cheaper variety since establishing the K temp. costs more.2. Lamp Life (Hrs): The life of a light bulb is the MEAN life, that is at the stated hours HALF of them will be dead and HALF of them will still be working. Life can be affected by many factors, one being how many times a day you turn them on and how long they stay on. As a rule, the more on/off's, the less they last.3. Initial lumens: If it is not listed try another brand. For the typical 60W equivalent it ranges between 700 and 900 lumens. Try for 800+ In general the highest the K temp. (see #1 above) the higher the...

Good choice but buy a little more wattage for better illumination
I received the two-8-packs of 13W CFL today. I installed the first one in the basement replacing a 60W incandescent bulb, about 15 feet from another 60W incandescent. The CFL is not as bright as the incandescent. Checking packages the 60W puts out 850 lumens versus 825 lumens for the 13W. Not much difference. I think the slightly less lumens plus the yellowish color makes it seems not as bright. I also have 20W and 23W CFL bulbs installed around the house. I would recommend using the 20W CFL for work locations, the 13W does not provide enough illumination. I have a 20W next to my recliner and it is great for reading. The 23W are brighter than the 75W incandescent bulbs. I have the 23W in my workshop.Be careful where you use the bulbs. We have used CFL bulbs for over 15 years. Some are 15 years old and still working other burned out after six months. CFL bulbs in recessed cans, enclosed ceiling fixtures and cans on ceiling fans have burned out early. Research showed...

Excellent value, Excellent FIVE STAR SERVICE.
These 13 watt CFL bulbs are quick start and a great replacement for standard 60 watt, soft white, incandescent bulbs. The color temp is 2.7K which is (soft) warm white, the same as a standard 60 watt incandescent bulbs. They put out a little more illumination then the 60 watt bulbs. That is a plus. Everything will look the same colors in your rooms where you change to these CFL bulbs. That is important.I used these in all the bathroom ceiling fixtures, vanity mirrors, hallway lights, every table lamp, floor lamp and even the kitchen ceiling spots. The garage and basement are also illuminated with these energy saving CFL's.These will not work with dimmer circuits so keep that in mind when ordering. They are fragile and the packers have to be careful when packaging these along with other items.I have received some broken bulbs and they were quick to refund for the broken ones.I have replaced 58 incandescent...

Turn on fast - little longer than "normal"
These all arrived in once piece (something I was afraid of after reading other reviews!), and installed easily. They also turn on fast at almost full brightness, something that I guess the newer energy efficient bulbs do? I have some older ones (two years or so) that take awhile to warm up. These are almost right away, which is great! The only problem I have with them is that they are a little longer than other 60 watt energy efficient bulbs I have, resulting in one more twist at the top. This caused them to not fit in the light holders in my bathroom that have plastic caps on them. I'm not sure if these are the "normal" size and my other bulbs were just short, or what, but that was a disappointment and I'll have to try to find smaller bulbs specifically for those lights.

CFL bulbs save energy, but have a few problems.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL bulbs) do use significantly less energy than incandescent bulbs (IC bulbs), so if you eventually replace all your burned out IC bulbs with CFL bulbs, you will see a decrease in your electric bill. However, CFL bulbs are more expensive, so it will take a while to recover the few dollars more that you pay for a multipack with your savings in electricity (and then start saving real money). And there are some other considerations:1. These GE CFL bulbs do NOT last five years in normal use like GE claims, so their long-term cost advantage over IC bulbs is not as great as advertised, especially if you already have a supply of spare IC bulbs. The five years is a dubious GE advertising claim which is apparently based on continuous usage, that is, never turning the light off. I have bought a few packages of spiral GE CFL bulbs over the last few years, and at least half of them have burned out - well before the five year claim...

the light bulb over head
I've spent years working & living with fluorescent & regular bulbs & have been happiest & more relaxed under these bulbs! I can't afford the true full spectrum bulbs (which are paradise for the eyes & brain!) so I tried these "Reveal" bulbs. What a difference it has made to me! The eye strain I used to feel is gone, the dull head feeling is gone; the colors stand out much more brightly & so make me even feel happier. I now use only "Reveal" bulbs in my home. Not everyone will notice a difference as not everyone is affected by color & light the same ways. If you ARE feeling eye strain, that 'dull' feeling in the head or even the winter blues from lack of sunlight, these may help! Light & color affect our moods & feelings of wellness, so , buy a pack on sale, give them a try. I hope they work for you as they have for me!

They work as advertised
These bulbs do exactly what they are meant to do. On my ceiling fan/light, I have 2 ordinary soft whites and two Reveals. The difference is clear. The soft whites give everything an obvious yellow tint. The Reveal bulbs do not. More colors come out. My eyes are more relaxed.I often spend hours at my home computer, so anything that reduces eye strain is welcomed. One issue that the previous rater mentioned is true - their light is somewhat dimmer than of the soft white bulb of same wattage. It does not feel different enough to require a 60W instead of 40W, or to require a 75W instead of 60W. I'm fine with the same Wattage as before.btw, I previously used a similar bulb from Philips. It may have been called "Natural Spectrum". It performed in the same way.

These bulbs are life savers
I have a medical condition in which CFL bulbs and regular fluorescent lights cause me to have seizures. LED replacement bulbs are also a problem because light fixtures often operate on alternating current, causing them to flicker. While this flicker is imperceptible to most people, I have an abnormally high flicker fusion threshold, allowing me to see the flicker and have resulting medical problems. Needless to say, I've been stocking up on incandescent lights like crazy so I can continue light my house after the ban. (People have commented that "there is no ban, just regulation on energy efficiency." Whatever, the regulations are so strict that they effectively ban incandescent lighting.)Of all of the incandescent bulbs I've tried out, GE Soft White and Reveal bulbs are my favorite. They last a very long time, provide beautiful lighting, and are perfectly priced. This is definitely the brand to get.

GE 41035 100 Watt bulb
I am thrilled to be able to get some incandescent light bulbs! We've been using the florescent bulbs and they just aren't as bright, and don't seem to last all that much longer. (Turning them on for less than 15 minutes shortens the life. Many times I need a light for 2 or 3 minutes and then turn it off.) Also, you can dispose of an incandescent with no problems. There is no hazardous poison in them. They were packaged very well and there was no breakage.Highly recommend.

Incandescent light is an idea whose time has come!
Well, I finally used up the last of the whale oil that I inherited from my great grandpappy, and I found that the only gadget giving off light in my house was this here computer monitor. But computer monitors are way too expensive to put in every room, so I went looking for another way to get light into my house at night. For years I had marvelled at these strange looking socket type thingies with what look like screw threads, only bigger, sticking out of the ceiling of many of the rooms of my house. What were they for? I desperately started searching the Internet until I stumbled on these here "lamps". They look awful funny for lamps. My lamps are way bigger and have pedestals and openings for lighting the wicks, but not these. These are like bulbs, flower bulbs, but they supposedly give light. "Gee", I thought. Maybe they should be called "light bulbs". Just an idea. So, I ordered a big box of these "lamps" and as soon as I got 'em I started screwing...
