Easy to follow step-by-step guide
As online investing is brand new to me, I found this book easy to follow and extremely interesting. The book guided me through the online process in a way that was easy for me to understand as well as increase my knowledge surronding online investing. The glossary of terms is a great reference to help one learn the variety of terminology. The book was filled with tons of useful information and I would highly recomend anyone who is investing online to read it!

A great introduction to online investing
This is the first personal finance book I've read that talks about investing in plain, easy-to-understand language. It's great for the beginner and useful for folks like me who've been investing on their own for awhile but who want to expand their knowledge or want clarification on how the markets work. I recommend it highly!

E*TRADE Boss Tells All
This may be the first, and is certainly one of the first books to spell out the process of online investing, and as such it is a valuable resource for the "layman" investor. As a reader with minimal knowledge of the stock market and online transactions, I was particularly impressed on three counts. First, Cotsakos has written the entire volume in an flowing, easily understood style, sort of as though he were just talking you through the process. This is helpful for those of us who don't really understand much of the typical jargon, and it also makes it easier to remain interested in what could be a very dry subject. Second, he goes back to the very basics of computer usage (purchasing the right machine with the right capabilities, etc.), which still could be quite mysterious for some people. By doing this he has anticipated and already answered some of our potential questions. And third, the book really progresses in a step-by-step fashion, with refreshers...

Provides complete company financial information free of charge, up-to-date research on stocks and mutual funds for fast buy-and-sell, a bond center, and access to an online community of other investors for an exchange of hot investment tips and strategies. Top to learn more

If you're curious about investing but have been too afraid to try, or if you've wondered about the hype surrounding online trading but were unsure how to plug in, It's Your Money is for you. In it, Christos Cotsakos--the man who put online trading on the map--leads you step-by-step into the brave new world of Internet trading. The book begins literally at the beginning, with criteria for buying a computer and selecting an Internet service provider, moves on through investment basics, and finally offers sophisticated strategies for analyzing individual stocks. Ever wondered what the NASDAQ was but didn't want to show your ignorance? Or day trading? Read on. In a clear, conversational style, Cotsakos answers all the key questions, from what growth stocks are, to why bonds are really not boring, to the difference between front-end and rear-end loads (mutual funds, that is).

Once you've grasped the basics, you're on your way to opening your own Internet trading account. The beauty of managing and investing money online is that you can be your own "professional fund manager" (which gives you more power over your money--the author's primary goal here). Cotsakos explains how to research investment opportunities using the World Wide Web, and how to analyze and interpret what you've found in order to meet your own goals. He shows how to take advantage of such online perks as portfolio tracking and computer alerts for important changes in particular investments. And he introduces advanced topics for the braveheart investor--IPOs, day trading, and extended-hours trading. The Cotsakos approach is nevertheless a prudent one. The emphasis is on using the computer's analytical tools to create a well-conceived financial plan, rather than on simply learning how to ride the helter-skelter world of day trading, for example. As a primer for investing online, this book is a great resource. Be forewarned, however: Cotsakos does take every opportunity to mention his own financial-services company, E*Trade. There are others out there, so take a leaf out of his own book and do your research--online, of course--before you sign up. --Lesley Reed Top to learn more

A very complete guide!
The author starts out by building confidence in investing on-line. His eleven Getting Started points (Decide how much you can save and invest, Master the terms, Understand the difference between being an active and passive investor, etc.) set the tone for the entire book. He assumes you have never invested on-line and then shows you exactly how to do it. Not only does he explain how to invest at your computer but he also explains basic terminology (selling stock short, buying a call in options, shareholders' equity, etc.) so that you are never lost in his explanations. Thankfully, he reserves the deeper topics (Capital-gain distribution nightmare, stock splits, etc.) for the gray sidebars. The hundreds of internet addresses he provides are enough to fill anyone's bookmarks. This is the kind of book you read with your laptop so that you can check out the references and bookmark those which have meaning to you.

You're only a Dummy if you don't check out this book!
I don't know how thorough or concise the first 5 editions of this resource were, but I can tell you this edition is both. I have just recently begun educating myself on the market, and started with the most recommended texts about - or by - Buffett, Lynch, Graham and others. I read the Complete Idiot's Guide to Investing that was informative. But nothing I've read thus far puts so much useful, understandable and resourceful information at your fingertips. Like the reviewer above states, there are HUNDREDS of viable links to largely free sites that cover the full spectrum of investing; from terminology and fundamental/technical analysis, to screeners, analyst ratings, quant models, governance, taxation and how to avoid scams. As mentioned, have your computer close by to bookmark these invaluable resources. Three additional chapters to the book - available online - pick up where the book left off with more advanced concepts and strategies. I can't recommend this text highly enough.

Instantaneous information
A great app for getting an instant snapshot of your investments. The first thing I look at when I roll out of bed. It would be even better with options support, but nonetheless, a very nice tool.

Maybe it's good but...
I can't seem to figure out how to use it with Wells Fargo. It says I need to enable a Quicken something or other and there's no real instructions. And there is no way to contact the maker's customer service (if they even have such a department). So there's no help on this...I just keep getting emails telling me to set it up and enter an account. So I guess it's just a waste of money for me. But the price wasn't much and I don't really mind--apparently it's a great app--just not so hot when you're a Wells Fargo client. All in all, I'd have to give it a 3 rating because of lack of support and a lack of instructions for Wells Fargo people.

Tried and tested and profitable!
I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. My concern was that it might be full of concepts I couldnt understand. It isnt full of jargon but when neccessary it can be technical. The good news is that the examples given quickly explain the technical bits which deepens the understanding. I also like it because it is about a philosophy of trading and how you can create your own style/philosophy. The author has made some good money trading and he has lost money too. Again the advantage here is you get to learn from his experience before you trade yourself. You can also contact him for further advice. If you are interested in Trading this is a great book to get you started.

Trading in the stock market is not easy. It demands a major investment of hard work, focused intelligence, and capital. There is also, quite often, a significant "tuition" charge for your training period, before you begin making money: you should not be surprised to lose $50,000 or $100,000 during this training period, depending on what you are putting on the table. This little book may not make you a single dime, but it should help you to keep your head clear and your focus keen -- and focus and clarity are a trader's best friends. Top to learn more

One of the best books for Trading and Investing
This book is a great book for anyone looking to invest money in the stock market. I have read many investment books and stock trading books and this is one of only 3 books that I would advise a new trader or investor to read. The author, Jason Kelly, starts by explaining "Why Stocks are Good Investments". Jason points to strong and true facts that show that owning stocks is one of the best ways of increasing wealth over time. He explains how you make money in stocks and goes into the difference between "total return" and "capital appreciation". Jason then explains why companies even sell stocks and how that works. If you are new to stock investing or trading and you do not have a clear understanding of this then you should read this. There is a quick section also about how to choose a broker to help you buy and sell stocks. Jason then goes into "How to Evaluate Stocks". He explains the difference between value and growth investing. Jason does a...

WHY this book is for you- regardless
I see a one-star review here that says this book is for neophyte investors. Yes, it is! It's also for experienced investors. I have 400% in total portfolio gains over the last two years. I'm not inexperienced- and I find substantial value in this new book, as I did in his earlier one that helped me learn my investment strategy. Occasionally someone will ask how I managed to achieve such gains in a recession, and I tell them how I follow fundamentals- value, potential, risk assessment, and so on. I'm amazed at the number of people who think that's crude strategy... but yet to find such a person who has done as well. One of the reasons some "experienced" investors don't do as well as they should is that they forget the fundamentals, or start believing fundamentals are negotiable or don't apply to them because of their accumulated wisdom. Experience can get in the way if you start thinking that doing something for several years automatically makes you good at...

There is an option trading opportunity but look at two key financial ratios that make us shy away from E-Trade as a long-term investment right now. access to E-Trade Mobile Pro to trade stocks and transfer funds between accounts, as well as to monitor real-time investment, market, and account information. It offers trading products and services, including automated order placement and execution of the U. S. equities, futures, options, exchange-traded funds, and bond orders. Along with its long-term downward trend, this dismal financial picture does not make E-Trade an appealing stock for long-term investors now. access to Power E-Trade Pro, a desktop trading software for active traders. If you want to make investments, you need to know as much as you can on how to buy mutual funds . Mutual funds are the way to go in order to make really good investments in your purchase. You will have to do your homework on how to buy mutual funds.

You can pay tax on a mutual fund that decreases in value if your manager sells funds that have increased in value (thus earning money and making you pay tax on it) while not selling stocks that are losing money (and therefore not offsetting the... During the stock market crash in 99-00, mutual fund holders were not only paying high fee loads while the value of their mutual fund plummeted. Just pay attention to your costs of trading – whether it be mutual fund expenses or stock trading expenses. I followed some ‘theories’ but every stock trade just resulted in me paying out a minimum of 1% in fees just to buy it. My returns were crippled. This saves you money in two ways – for one, you don’t have to pay a big shot group of people for their continual oversight and trading of your basket of stocks.
