Customer Review

Should definitely read before getting a dwarf bunny
The book's design and photos are very pleasing (& very cute!). The author offers much useful and easy to understand advice. If you're looking into getting a bunny or just became an owner of one, I highly recommend this book because it will make you & your bunny's lives easier. It gives you tips on how to bond with your bunny, what to do and what NOT to do with him/her. I made the mistake of not having read this book before raising my bunny. I did things that I thought were completely normal to do (I have 2 very small dogs & have had many animals before) but were totally inappropriate when it comes to rabbits. Just being caring and loving is not enough. You need to learn to care and love the right way to ensure a happy and enjoyable life for the both of you.

Product Description

The author tells how to distinguish pure-bred dwarf rabbits from mixed breeds--which often grow to full size. She also advises on feeding, caging, health care, and teaching children to handle these delicate animals. Barron's extensive line of Complete Pet Owner's Manuals presents information for non-specialist animal owners and prospective owners, with facts about each animal's origins and traits, as well as advice on purchasing, housing, feeding, health care, and much more. Each book is individually written by a trainer, breeder, veterinarian, or other animal specialist. Titles in this series cover every popular breed of dog and cat, freshwater and marine fish, many bird varieties, and virtually all other animals that are kept as pets. All books are filled with handsome color photos and instructive line illustrations. Top to learn more

Unfortunately I was late!
I am sorry that I did not buy this book before I bought my rabbit. I wish I had read it before doing so many mistakes. I recommend you to read this book before buying this lovely creature, at least not to hurt it against your will.

An excellent start to learning how to care for your pet.
This book is really amazing. It teaches you almost everything you need to know about rabbits, and is very accurate. We bought the book as a guide when we bought our first bunny, and it has really been a fantasic guide. If you are only going to buy one book, make it this one, you will not be disappointed.

if your bun can stand it
my rabbit wont let me harness him. these work better for larger buns, i have a dwarf.getting your bun to sit still long enough to put this on can be tricky unless your little one is lazy. however once on its secure and holds fast. it dosnt seem to cause irritation or discomfort or restrict mobility. a fiesty bun can easily slip out of harness if he's willing to put all the extra energy into it.make sure you have a back up fence so your rabbit dosnt try returning to the wild.

Easy to use
Our bunny really doesn't seem to mind her leash and we do walk her occasionally. I took her to the vet in it the other day and the vet thought it was so cute. It is not over constricting but it is snug enough that she cannot get out of it. It is well designed and the materials are of decent quality.

Fits well.
This Harness fits my Holland lop very well. He's a bigger bunny and i'm able to wrap it around him tightly. The leash is a good length too. The fabric is thin and didn't come in the color that is pictured here. The fabric I got was bright pink with multi colored flowers all over it, it wasn't the color i expected or wanted (because my bunny is a boy) but I've grown to like it.

    Product Description

THE DWARF AND THE KINGDOM OF BARE FEET
Once upon a time there lived a dwarf who stumbled across an unusual kingdom. It was the Kingdom of Bare Feet where nobody wore shoes or slippers and everyone walked around barefoot. A jealous fairy had put a magic spell on the kingdom making all items of clothing either shrink or stretch out by the next morning. This is why nobody could wear shoes! They would either fall right off their feet, or shrink so much that it would hurt
THE TOWN FAIRY AND THE BABY SPARROW
He was bouncing his ball around with delight until it landed on the edge of the roof. As he was retrieving it, he noticed a group of little sparrows playing tag on the roof below. He sat down on the edge of the rooftop and watched them play. He was sad because he wanted to play tag with the other little sparrows, but he didn’t know how to fly. He was still too young. He could flap his wings and fly a few feet but he couldn’t fly from rooftop to rooftop like the others.
He was determined to fly! He wanted to play with his sparrow friends and fly like they did. He decided to give it a try. Flapping his wings, he managed to fly few feet across the rooftop.
THE TOWN FAIRY AND THE BLUE BUNNY
The fairy smiled. “Hello little blue bunny. What happened to your ear? Shouldn’t you be at home where you belong instead of all alone in a shrub?” she asked.
“I don’t have a home anymore. After my ear got torn, I got thrown away and was replaced with a new toy,” sadly replied the bunny.
“Well, that’s not very nice. Don’t worry I will mend your ear with a patch. I have everything I need to mend bunnies’ ears with in my magic fairy purse! Once I’m done you will be as good as new,” said the fairy, holding out her hand to the bunny. THE SMITTEN PRINCE AND THE DIAMOND
The shipwright gladly accompanied the prince on his journey to the island. After all, the boat was too big for just one person. As they approached the island they were spotted by the giants who were guarding the diamonds and special seasoning. They began blowing at the boat and managed to blow it away from the island. The prince was not discouraged! He had made it all this way and would not let the giants stop him from getting on that island. Suddenly the prince remembered the magic rope he had bought from the beaver in the little shop in the tree. He took out the rope and tied the boat… to the air! The boat didn’t budge this way or that. It stayed right there where it was tied. The plan was to wait till the giants grew tired of blowing before they continued towards the island. So, the prince and the shipwright happily spent their days on the boat eating out of the magic pot and enjoying the beautiful view.
It took no more than seven days and seven nights for the giants to grow tired of blowing
THE KINGDOM OF HAPPINESS AND SADNESS
Then he went on to explain the diamonds in more detail. If separated, the happiness diamond would glow with happiness and make everyone around it happy. In the same way, the sadness diamond would glow with sadness and make everyone around it sad. That’s why it would be so hard to bring them back together – the happy people would be too happy to bring them back together. They wouldn’t want to stop being so happy. The sad people would be too sad to think about bringing them back together. They would feel too miserable to do anything about it. It was very important that the two diamonds never separated. The Master wizard told the two young wizards he trusted them. And then *poof* he was gone.
The two wizards kept the diamonds safe in a drawer. Years went by and the two diamonds never left each other’s side. Top to learn more

    Buy Dwarf Bunnies

Before you can even begin to look at dwarf bunnies, you need to know WHERE to look at dwarf bunnies. Exhibitor dwarf bunnies are generally show-class dwarf bunnies. First off, how old should the dwarf bunny be. Most people firmly believe that 2-3 months is a good time, but older dwarf bunnies can also be excellent choices, depending on how well they were raised/breeder ability. One neutered male dwarf rabbit would be ideal, or two female dwarf bunnies. While this may not be important for most owners, if you're looking for a show class dwarf bunny, approximately 4 months would be the ideal timeframe to purchase a dwarf bunny. You don't really know anything about the seller at all for that matter - whether the dwarf bunny was raised properly, if the dwarf bunny is old enough - you can only go by what the seller tells you. When you pick up the dwarf bunny, use BOTH hands: one hand under, and one hand cupping the dwarf rabbit's butt (and slightly under). Obviously, look at how healthy the dwarf bunny is. NEVER pick up a dwarf bunny by the ears. Breeders (usually) use the best dwarf rabbits they can find to breed, so these types of dwarf rabbits are also top notch. You can obtain a dwarf bunny for - on average, and even free sometimes if the person is just looking to get rid of the dwarf rabbits. The pet store dwarf bunnies are probably decently taken care of, and pet stores can usually be trusted to provide healthy pets (I would assume you're going to a proper pet store). Dwarf rabbits from pet stores are generally a good buy. You talk to other breeders, see what they have in stock, look at their dwarf bunnies, and negotiate a deal. Unfortunately, that's also one of the worst times to buy a dwarf bunny.

The Netherland Dwarf is the smallest of the 45 breeds recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association, weighing in at a mere 2 lbs when fully grown. The Netherland Dwarf is the smallest of the 45 breeds recognized by the American Rabbit Breeders Association, weighing in at a mere 2 lbs when fully grown. The digestive system of a Netherland Dwarf is sensitive, even by bunny standards. If you decide to Netherland Dwarf is the bunny for you, preparing a suitable habitat will be the first step in its overall care. Only buy a month’s supply of chow at a time as the pellets can spoil or mold, causing illness. About 250 mg a day is sufficient for a mature female Netherland Dwarf. A Dwarf cage needs to be at least three square feet, but bigger is better. Pet rabbits do well with pellet that is 18-20% fiber, 14-15% protein and 2-3% fat. Even though your rabbit will be safe inside its hutch, it can still be scared to death by a menacing predator. Also, a constant supply of timothy hay provides a great source of fiber and allows for all day nibbling. rabbits cannot absorb water from their food.

Someone who will care for her and love her just as she is. Someone who will be gentle and loving. She was ignored and left to sit in a cage with food shoved at her when it was thought of. Olivia was never held or loved and was not allowed out of her tiny cage to play. Olivia needs someone very special in her life. Our bunnies are spayed/neutered, have a follow-up wellness exam prior to adoption, and a molar grind if needed. Olivia would scream with fear if you tried to touch her or pick her up. It has taken us a full year to work with her and gain her trust that people can be loving and gentle. I feel once Olivia is in a home where there are no other rabbits she will feel less threatened. Olivia needs someone who wishes to continue what we have started.
