This is a GREAT reference bible!
I cannot recommend this bible highly enough! This is a King James version with the most comprhensive notes and references of any bible I have seen. Each page contains four columns, the center two being scripture and the outer two notes and references. There are also extensive notes at the end of each book, as well as a summary containing the date and place, the author, theme, purpose and statistics. Symbols indicate prophecy, promise, command or message from God.According to the preface, there are 500,000 cross-references and 35,000 notes! It is mind-boggling to say the least that a person could put such a work together without the use of a computer.There is also a complete concordance and atlas in the back, as well as many other helpful aids for an in-depth study of the Word.The only criticism, if you could call it that, is that the print is small. Beautiful!!!!!!!
This is a wonderful Study Bible that is Beautifully done. One nice feature is that prophecy's are marked with a black star, promises with a black triangle, Commands with a black circle and message from God with a Black Box. The Bible uses the King James text witch is an excellent version, its two sided columned and has notes on the side columns and bottom. The notes are conservative Christian, evangelical, and Dispensational. The Notes help define and explain the text, key words are shown to us in the Original Hebrew and Greek and are defined. There are also Book outlines and information at the end of each book as well as notes which contain questions and where they are answered in the text, lists, Doctrines, Words study's, Character studies, and much more. In the Back of the Bible are Maps, Diagrams, Dispensational Charts, and a complete Concordance and Cyclopedia index. This Bible is a wonderful Study Tool.

A MANNA FEST
I make it a goal of mines to read the whole Bible yearly. To make things interesting, I use different translations every year. I find that the Dake Annotated Reference Bible-KJV is pressed down, shaken together, and running over with information that no other Bible has. It is a manna fest! Often times I get so full of reading and studying the Dake as well as the Amplified Bible that it is my meditation all the day and night. . . . but I'm adding it anyway.First off, I should say that I am *not* a Biblical scholar; my religious "training" is solely based on a churchgoing upbringing and liberal arts-oriented (but not religious) education. Even though I'm not a religious scholar by any stretch of the imagination, I do find that I can sort out fact from opinion. As long as you've got some sort of foundation in Christian religion (I specify "Christian" not to exclude other religious but only to make clear the needed background for reading this text), you will most likely be able to make your own judgements regarding Dake's opinions.***Also, don't forget that opinions DO have their plus side! They make you think, mentally aruge, search for scriptures, and review your own beliefs.***I find the tremendous amount of annotating to be fascinating. Makes You Want To Dig Deeper..Deeper...Deeper into the Word
Dake is not right about everything, he's human like me, you and John Wesley. But he claims to have spent 100,000 hours studying God's Word, so he is certainly a Bible EXPERT! Expect to have your mind blown, time and time again, by his commentary, (notice, I didn't say His commentary). I'd also be reading God's Plan For Man by Dake, along with your Dake Bible. A lot of those questions you've had will be answered, I guarantee it. You won't agree with him always, but it'll be a blast conversing with Dake, Finney, Wesley, Sojourner Truth and all the rest of the saints during the Millenium and beyond!

I have known of this bible for years but never looked into it until recently. I was amazed at the variance in the reviews here on Amazon; many people rate it an enthusiastic 5 stars while others give it a scathing one star. I can see why this is; it is the most personally polarizing bible that I have ever looked it and here is why:The amount of annotations is amazing! Truly this man spent HOURS researching God's Word. There is a plethora of lists, word studies, and outlines, many of which I REALLY, REALLY like and gain much from, perhaps more than any bible I have ever had. They cause me to think and go back and study the text to find the outlined points. I like the way they summarize the sections of the text and make it easy to locate certain verses.Conversely, there is also a lot to dislike, and I really hate to have to add this part of the review when there is so much that I DO like about the bible. Pentacostal/Charismatic Sourcebook of Lists...& Racism
I found a nearly perfect copy of the 1967 Dake's edition at an estate sale a few years ago, and purchased it along with a well-worn Scofield Bible. Since I've always had trouble keeping the different sects of Christianity straight in my mind, I thought they would be helpful in understanding some of the more recent trends in Christian thought, such as dispensationalism (the belief that God has different expectations of people at different points in history), etc. I was pleased to discover the many comments throughout and charts in the back explaining many of the beliefs common among some (not all) Charismatic (and others, I'm sure) Christians. Dake's Bible is full of commentary and a mind-bogglingly fascinating number of lists. The Dake's Bible was an awesome purchase for me. It has everything I need for studying the word of God. It was also at a great price too! I brought a Dakes bible (small print) over 25 yrs ago, now it hard to read and I needed large print and I found it here at amazon.

King of bibles!
I first got acquainted with the Dake bible in 1986, when my dad who was a pastor bought one for me. When I opened it up I was overwhelmed. Information overload! I was not quite ready for it at that point in my life. Now, 25 years later, I reopened it up and fell immediately in love with it. So I bought this newer large print edition, and I can't say enough good about this bible. I am finding things out that are changing my beliefs in some areas due to the facts that are presented, and I mean tons of facts. Cross reference scriptures, end of chapter notes, comments, a concordance for every word in the bible which also references related topics, scientific facts, on and on. Between my wife and I, we own over a hundred bibles, and we both now are using the Dake exclusively. Hands down. Even though we both prefer the NASB95 and the NKJV over the KJ versions, this is well worth the change for all the added information.The leather is really soft and pliable, and folds...

Still Dake but new formatting
I have used a Dake Bible since the 1970s. I find the Dake's, if used intelligently, can add much to any Christian's ministry. This handy size is well-priced and worth every dollar, but for original Dake readers it has been formatted differently than the original Dake. It takes a bit of getting used to visually, as there is so much on each page now, not only the four original columns. For those new to Dake, his Study Bible notes are absolutely the most comprehensive and thorough historically [practices of cultures and religions over the centuries] doctrinally [some of his views will be new and even open to question], and theologically [in terms of substance, not traditional/historically orthodox in every way] of any study Bible in existence, even if you don't see it always his way, it is still worth the effort to get one and will give you a lot to think about. Choose wisely...
When purchasing a Dake, its best to go by the ISBN number retrieved off the Dake website. That being said, I puchased this bonded leather 2010 edition of the standard Dake with 4 columns. I don't really like the new format of the large print and compact editions. Its not what F. Dake personally produced or intended anyway. That being said, I don't have a problem with the type at 40 years old. I bought this edition before in around '96 and with this current copy the leather seems softer and the pages seem thicker, if memory serves me well. The pages are "duller" paper than typical Bibles but this seems easier on the eyes. So, basically, if you're debating on this purchase, I'd go with it. One particular note, F. Dake was way ahead of the curve on this modern "Nephelim" phenomena. Also, there's no question as regards Dake's personal convictions, sincerity and integrity.
