Product Description

CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is designed specifically for aviation use for children age 1 and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. These youngsters are old enough to be in their own seats, but are too small for the seat belt alone to protect them. Their bodies cannot withstand the jolts that are common in routine transportation, much less emergency situations, and they flail forward or slide beneath the seat belt if they are not held securely in place. Each year more and more young children fly. But until CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint came along, what was missing was a convenient, hassle-free way to keep young flyers safe. Here's what makes CARES such an invaluable travel solution: CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is the first and only aviation Child Safety Device to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an alternative to a car seat. CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint is an elegantly designed belt-and-buckle device that works in conjunction with the regular airplane seat belt and provides young travelers the same level of safety as a car seat. CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint weighs just one pound and fits into a 6" stuff sack! It is easily portable, simple to install, adjustable to nearly every size airplane seat, and usable on any seat in the airplane, except in the emergency exit rows. Need your car seat on the other end of the trip? Just check it through as luggage and carry CARES Kids Fly Safe aviation restraint on board in your pocket! CARES is manufactured exclusively by AmSafe Aviation, the foremost manufacturer of aviation seatbelts and pilot restraints in the world. (Turn over your airplane seat belt buckle. Chances are it says AmSafe.) CARES is made of the same industrial-strength webbing as your own seat belt and is engineered to the highest aviation-safety standards. INCLUDES: Restraint, instruction card, instruction video on DVD, and travel bag. Top to learn more

Good child flight harness
This is a great product for kids who are too big to travel in a carseat but may be too small to be firmly held by a lap belt alone. Certainly this product is lightweight and portable, a pleasure after lugging carseats onto airplanes. It installs quickly and easily. The only downsides are that when it is fastened firmly, it's hard for the child to lean over and sleep. I loosened it so my son could lean to the side with a couple pillows. Also when it is pulled tight, the main strap pulls away from the seat and may not be comfortable for the child's head. Sometimes you have to play with the installation. Overall, though, it's a great product. While it may seem a little bit like overkill, after one bout of severe turbulence on an airplane, you will appreciate its value to keep your kids safely strapped to their seats.

Good for take-off and landing... Took off for during flight.
We just completed travel with our 20 month old using the CARES restraint system. (Outbound flight 18 hours/Inbound flight 12 hours). The restraint was easy to install, just make sure that you place it behind the food tray of the person sitting behind you, instead of on it... dumb mistake we didn't realize on the outbound flight. Our child was well secured during take-off and landing, however, we removed it during the flight while our toddler was sleeping. The only bad thing to watch for was when our child was sleeping. The neck portion of the restraint tended to go into his neck, especially when he was sleeping. So we removed the restraint or loosened the neck when he was asleep. I'd recommend the restraint for toddlers on the larger or taller end, only because of the fact that they may'drown' in the restraint. (Our little one is 36" and 29 lbs). Overall: 1. Easy to use 2. Restrained Child 3. No bulky car seat 4. Just watch the neck if your kid is asleep or slouching

Safe and sound
We first flew with this when my daughter was 18 months old. She had no problem settling in with this since it fit on her just like her 5-point car seat harness. According to the product site and according to the airline, as of December 2008 this is THE ONLY FAA certified device of it's kind. Our flight attendant even checked to ensure that it was a CARES device before we were allowed to use it. It takes just about 3 minutes to get it into place and get our girl strapped in - much faster than a carseat- and it folds right back into it's own tiny pouch when the flight is over. We always get our daughter her own seat and will continue to use the CARES system until she no longer requires a special restraint. If you travel infrequently there are also businesses that will rent the harness to you for less than it would cost to buy it if cost per use is holding you back. We are so happy we discovered this-it has made flying with our toddler a breeze (along with the portable DVD...

So easy but some challenges can happen depending on kid
This was waaaayyyy easier than lugging a car seat on our trip with us. So light weight, so easy to just stash in your diaper bag. I was really nervous about disturbing people putting it on and taking it off, but that turned out to be no big deal. As another reviewer pointed out you can take the last seat on the plan or pre-board if you're nervous about this. But I found I could put it on so quickly, no one had time to get bothered or, in one case, even notice me installing it.The only draw back is the airline seat belt buckle it connects to is far easier for a child to open than a car seat buckle. It only happened to us once but it did result in a little melt down when I buckled her back in. Still, that was far less aggravation then lugging a car seat thru security and around the airport. I will use this now every time.

Good purchase, but a few notes.
We had our little one as a lap child with no confirmed seat on the plane. This worked out perfect as it was so small and easy to carry in my backpack. If she couldn't get a seat, then we could have just left it in my backpack, and when she was able to get a seat, I could just remove it and quickly set it up.I can imagine carrying a car seat onto the plane would be a hassle, and if you were in the lap child situation then you have the risk of having to take it back off the plane if she can't get a seat (or just wait with it until boarding ends? - not sure of that process)I also think that this was much easier than installing a car seat in the car, so I'm sure it was immensely easier than installing on the plane. And it doesn't take up any space on the plane either. Easy to put the little one in or out of it throughout the flight without being an obstacle. Now the few negatives...1) As noted in a few other reviews (under the non-bundle...

Great Idea - Used Many Times
I have been traveling with my daughter since she was born and she is now 2 years old. We have used the vest, probably 8 or more times:When she was 6 months old my husband and I took a trip to Mexico and she was still nursing and on my lap. I felt great knowing that if we hit turbulance - she was attached to me.When she was 7 months she went to visit Grandma with me to Florida and once again - it worked great. Enough mobility so she could wiggle and nurse but safe enough for me to feel better. When she was a year - we were able to go to Maui and that was a long flight - once again we used it. And, we were never told by the flight crew to take it off during take off and landing although I understand you're not suppose to use it during that time (only cruising). The attendants seemed to think it was a great idea to have her buckled to me.Lastly, there are enough adjustments on the vest to get a good fit. It may not be the perfect solution...

A necessity for Infant Travel
I didn't worry about my baby slipping off my lap or flying out of my arms in case of turbulence. She was securely and comfortably strapped to my seat belt. We we both able to sleep most of the way. Lightweight enough to put in your diaper bag and won't overheat baby. There are two sizes, so be sure to get the right one for your child. (All the moms on the plane were asking me where to get one!)

Product Description

Baby B Air is worn by the infant like a vest It is placed over the child s head and secured by adjustable straps on both sides under the baby s arms The third strap comes from behind between the baby s legs and buckles to the front with another adjustable strap The excess straps Velcro neatly to the vest so that there are no loose straps Top to learn more

For parents who often take to the skies with a baby in their lap, this light, stowable item may offer extra peace of mind when worn during flight. The soft cotton vest can be worn throughout a trip and three plastic buckles snap at sides and crotch, and the adult's seat belt passes through a nylon loop to secure child to parent. This harness would be a must-have accessory for the frequent-flying baby--if it were FAA approved for use during takeoff and landing. Currently it is not, a fact we felt the manufacturers should make much clearer than they do. During takeoff and landing, then, this simple vest/harness cannot (alas) replace the uncomfortable baby lap belts provided by the airlines, although it meets all FAA regulations for use during flight. --Richard Farr Top to learn more

Love this Product. A lifesaver.
We recently used this with my 26 month old son on his Britax Marathon. It was so simple. With my husband's help, we were able to attach it to the carry-on while my son remained sleeping in his seat. My son is a real busy body and hates strollers, so I worried that he would not want to sit in it during our layover after being stuck in a plane for 4 hours, but he loved it. He actually couldn't wait to sit in it and be wheeled through the airport. Once we got to our final destination, he actually threw a fit because we would not take the seat out of the car and wheel him inside the house.

Product Description

ATTN: Britax owners. If our product is too short, please check to be sure your LATCH straps are in the forward facing position. Whether flying on an airplane or traveling by train or bus, it is safest and most comfortable for your child to be in a car seat. But traveling with a young child, their seat, and your carry-on can be tricky. Not anymore. The Traveling Toddler strap allows you to attach your LATCH and top tether equipped toddler's car seat to a rolling carry-on suitcase. Simply attach the LATCH and top tether straps from the car seat to the Traveling Toddler and adjust the straps so that the car seat is held securely on the suitcase. Once adjusted, the car seat can be detached and reattached to the suitcase in seconds. Lift the handle of your carry-on bag and you have a fun new stroller. Now there's an easy and inexpensive way to take your toddler's car seat and other gear on your trip. You do not have to buy a special seat or suitcase. As long as your suitcase handle locks in place, you can push it like a stroller. Your hands are free for check in and its simple to unhook for security. Keep your child safe and comfortable in their own seat. The Traveling Toddler has been tested with most major car seat brands including Graco, Eddie Bauer, Cosco, Evenflo, and Britax, and a variety of carry-on suitcases and has worked with every combination. It is important that the telescoping handle of your suitcase locks in place. If not, it might not stay extended when you try to push your child in front of you, though you would still be able to pull them. If flying, make sure that your car seat is FAA approved before traveling. The Traveling Toddler strap is made from heavyweight polypropylene webbing that will withstand 900 lbs of force. When not in use it easily slips in the pocket of your carry-on. As with any other wheeled child carrier, do not use the Traveling Toddler on stairs or escalators. Car seat and suitcase sold separately. Patent pending. Top to learn more

Great product - affordable and practical
I recently used this product with my 2-year-old (23 lbs) in a Britax Marathon and a 22" carry-on roller. Overall, I am very happy with the strap. There are some minor details you need to know, here are the summary:PRO:- Your little one(s) will love it, it's a novelty stroller for them- Strap is simple and easy to use, it leveages(extends) the car seat's belt system (top and two sides) to attach to your carry-on roller.- It works well but make sure to do a test drive at home.- You will get postive comments from almost everyone you pass by. If you have extra straps with you, you can probably sell them on the spot. Amazon should be paying me for the upcoming business they will get from my word-of-mouth advertisment!CON: (not really cons but just observations)- Expectation on size. Not really a con but just a little let-down when you get your package. Has nothing to do with usability.- Price but still affordable. Probably...

Since CARES does not block the passage of others onboard the aircraft any more than an airplane seatbelt, CARES can be used in center and aisle seats, unlike car seats which can only be installed in window seats or the centermost seats of jumbo... How to use CARES: Lower the tray table on the back side of the seat where you want to use CARES (explain to your rear neighbor if he’s already seated), and slip the red cinch strap around the seat back with the black straps hanging down, buckles... The main drawbacks we found were that neither girl could see out of her airplane window when seated on the grown-up airplane seat, as they might have been sitting in a car seat. When it was placed lower and closer to the shoulders, the seat’s shape worked against it the red CARES strap would actually stick out from the seat center and kept sliding down. It’s not hard to install a CARES harness, and it really does only take a few minutes, but we found that the specific shape and even upholstery of the airplane seat can present some challenges (and it was different for us on each flight). With each CARES harness stored in its small stuff sack and placed in each of our carry-ons (a diaper bag and a daypack), we were able to simply place our bags on the X-ray belt and proceed through security and the entire airport without any...
