Smaller than they appear but good sound!
Not as big as the pictures make them appear. I purchased these to use in classroom debates/competitions...I'm wishing there was a fifth and/or sixth button, because my classes are slightly too big for only 4 groups. But the sounds are very cute, pretty loud, and all very different -- so it will be easy to tell which group "buzzed in" first. :-)I think my middle school students will enjoy using these. I think they're worth more like $15.00 than $24.00 with shipping...you can probably find them in teachers' stores -- look around :) Top to learn more

Wow--fun and educational! Here's how to order extension cables.
Wow, this game rocks! I watched another teacher use one to turn his bored class of high schoolers into a fully-engaged, excited, laughing, and active set of learners. I highly recommend it.Mine just arrived from Amazon, and as other reviewers pointed out, the cables are about 4 feet. But not to worry -- there's an easy solution. Just plug in a set of 3.5 mm jack audio extension cables and you can get any length you need. Amazon has a wide variety, so try typing "audio cable 3.5 mm male female" into the Amazon search cell and you should get a good list. I've used the 6 foot stereo version with good results.[Update in March 2011] I've been using this for several months while substitute teaching, and it's been a lifesaver. I form the kids into 6 groups, usually simply by their desk row. They then write on 3x5 cards their own questions and answers about whatever they are studying in the class. I encourage slightly harder questions that would take 5-15...

Great idea but...
If you teach high school with 30+ students in your class, don't bother buying this. The company shortened the buzzer cords from 10 feet to 4 feet, and it's impossible to get teams to crowd around the main control panel within a 4-foot radius. I wrote to customer service, and they were not helpful. I had to buy my own extensions off of another Web site which cost me an additional [...]. The students do enjoy playing Jeopardy-style review games with it. I also bought the wireless version of Eggspert first which did not work well at all, so I returned it and got this wired version. Just be forewarned that it comes with very short cables. Had I known this I probably would not have bought it.

Best bet for group trivia games
I do a lot of training at work and got a lot of stares when I pulled this out. Staff were rolling their eyes looking at it and getting huffy. Then I asked the first question and buzzers started ringing in. Staff loved it!! I've used it for family feud, jeopardy, wheel of fortune, and other games. Staff don't dread training as much now and get more involved in the training. It also builds team spirit. Yes, it looks like a pre-schooler toy, but our staff love it! The options for buzzing are simple yet allow you to change the type of game you want to play, and it's great to have a very unbiased indicator of who buzzed first.

A little too advanced for a 7-year old!
Bought this game for a boy turning 7 -- the age that the game said it's appropriate for. He is an excellent speller and has advanced vocabulary and verbal skills for his age. And, he loves word games. Thought this new game would be perfect! Once we set up the buzzers which all have different doorbell sounds and are very cool (be sure to have 8 AAA batteries on hand), we chose the first card of the easier group. The two words were: cede and seed! Really!! A 7-year old knows the meaning of "to voluntarily resign." His mother was very gracious and said that he'll learn even more words playing this game, but I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 12 (and I'm not sure I'd have guessed cede myself)! A fast and fun game
When we first got the game I knew right away upon taking the buzzer's out of the box my little girl was going to love this game. I mean what kid don't want to make ton's of noise when playing a game. The game offers two different levels which is really nice to chance up the game. It is so funny to hear all the different sounds from each buzzer. Having each buzzer make different noises make it much easier to tell who pushed the button first. With 200 double sided cards the game really goes over a lot of different words.My little girl had a blast playing the game with hubby and me. We would sit in the floor and of course we let Dominique hit the buzzer first most of the time. That way she would have the chance to answer the questions the most. I was really happy to see her thinking and really interacting with the game. This really helps them in understanding the same words but at the same time different words. Very well constructed sturdy bell. Great value for the money. I bought this as a potty training bell for my mini dachshund since she is too small to jump up and ring a bell hung from the door knob. This bell sits on the floor next to the door and she can just tap it with her paw. Top to learn more

Goes ding
Order arrived on time and in new condition. What is there to say, press the button and it gives the distinctive ding of a call bell (resonates for about 5 seconds or so). Does what it is supposed to and looking at its construction I doubt it will ever need to be replaced. Top to learn more

Not What I Expected.
When i first bought this i thought it would be fun to play with.Sadly it didn't meet my expectations. First of all its made of plastic, not metal which makes it very easy to break.And second its way too big, i try to do it to my little sister who is very gullible and even she noticed it.
