Super pump
When I was looking for a pump, my top choices were Medela Pump In Style and Ameda Purely Yours. They're both comparable in features and reputation, and I chose Ameda for two reasons:1. Breast milk is better protected from exposure to the environment. The Purely Yours pump accomplishes this by using a patented diaphragm to create a barrier, which protects the pump and tubing from contamination. (Ameda has obtained FDA clearance to make this claim.)2. It's cheaper than the Medela.Having used this pump for almost 4 months, I confidently say that I absolutely love it. Here are the reasons why:1. Milk goes directly from the horns (the parts that go to the breast) to the bottle (through a small valve). I like the fact that milk does not go through any tubes or the pump body. There are only 3 parts to wash (the horns, the valve, and the diaphragm), and they wash very easily.2. Excellent Pump
When I started looking at pumps, I did my research and knew I would buy either this one or the medela, since I worked full-time. I decided to go with this based purely on the fact that it was lighter, you could use batteries or a car adapter and it was cheaper (I bought it for $150).And then I thought I'd made a terrible mistake. Initially it pumped well and then went downhill! I was confused and then figured out the white valves needed changing. I did so and a week later ran into the same problem. I ended up chnaging 3 sets of valves in one month before I realized the problem was me....I was cleaning the valves with a brush which is a NONO....ooops.Since, I finally figured that out, the pump works great. I can empty both breasts in 20-30 mins. It's easy to carry around. the carry all is elegant and discreet and everything fits in it. Great breast pump!!
I really like the Ameda breast pumping system. I was started on it when my son was in the hospital for 9 days after he was born and have been using it since. As an occupational health nurse, I was able to try the Medela pumping system which I found much harder to clean. I found that there was much less risk of having the milk enter into the pumping system witht he Ameda.I have used my Purely Yours pump in a car and in many other situations during the 8 and 1/2 months of pumping. It si a lightwieght machine with a good amount of power. I take it back and forth to work with me, as well as when I travel.I love the control and comfort that I have with the length of the pumping cycle and the strength of the suction. I adjust the levels as I have different needs.

Very Good Pump
I bought this pump because it was highly recommended on [...] and got good reviews here and I can truly agree. I have been using it for over 9 months and have not had any problems with it. It washes easily, is easy to assemble and is quiet.Just a couple of notes about it:The soft plastic phalanges do wear out after a lot of use and/or improper washing so you have to order more, but the only way to order more is to order a whole little replacement kit that also comes with more tubing. Not super expensive but still annoying. I have only had to order one extra set in nine months and that is probably because I was washing them to roughly.I know people are told never to buy a used pump, but actually this one you could buy used. Milk never comes into contact with the white base unless you accidently spill some on it. All the other parts are replaceable.Has a great bag, nice and roomy since this will now become your new purse to work for the next year. Yipee.

Good alternative to the Medela
This pump was my fourth attempt at finding a pump that is right for me. My baby is currently six months old, and I have been using a breast pump since she was a few weeks old. My original breast pump is the Medela Free Style. I like it a lot. I think it does a good job of expressing a lot of milk in a short period of time. I also love the fact that it is hands-free. What I did NOT like about the Medela Free Style, however, were the nipple shields. After experiencing very sore nipples and eventually a bit of nipple trauma (ouch), I bought bigger breast shields for my Medela pump. Unfortunately, Medela does not take into account that nipple size and breast size do not necessarily have a correlation, and I found that the shields, while fine for my nipples, were too large for my breasts, and thus did not fit properly [incidentally, I have a friend who has the opposite problem -- large breasts and small nipples, and she had similar fit problems with the smaller Medela breast shields]. Great Pump!
I did a lot of research before buying and ended up with this one over the similar Medela pump. This is less expensive than Medela and seems superior. There are completely dialable settings for both speed and suction. I tend to be a bit abusive to my electronics and this has stood up now to 5+ months of abuse with no issues. The price on amazon is better than I could find at a local store. Note, most stores do not carry this pump, only specialty boutiques that specialize in lactation consulting. I am a little concerned with how easy it will be to get replacement parts if I break anything, but I have not had to worry about that yet. I was able to get a $5 rebate through Enfamil in a free bag they gave me at the hospital, so if you get one of those bags and buy any pump, be sure to look for that.I have not needed the different sized flanges and find the carrying bag is way bigger than you need. Great Pump
This is the only pump I've tried but it has worked great for me and I've been using it for 5 months so far. The pump is plenty powerful enough that I can express plenty of milk for my baby while I am at work. I really liked the idea of this pump because of the closed system which means you don't have to wash the tubing because it does not ever have any condensation. I was afraid of using the Medela because of the fact that is an open system and they say you can spread diseases if you share between people. I don't plan on sharing my pump but if I were to get sick, would I have to be afraid I contaminated the pump? The Ameda pump is a closed system so this is not a risk. Also, the Ameda pump is much less expensive than the Medela which I cannot figure out why.I have not used this pump with the batteries or the car adapter although I like having those options just in case I am ever stuck somewhere without my baby.I have only a few minor issues with the Ameda...

A LIFESAVER!!
For a mom-to-be pregnant with twins, I thought purchasing a good hospital grade pump would probably be needed. I was gunghoe on nursing the girls...not to meantion the savings in formula costs. Well, I lucked out and found this one on ebay brand new in packaging for $130 - good deal, right? At $200, $300, or $400 this would have been a GREAT deal. This pump ROCKS! My girls ended up being born 8 weeks early and this allowed me to pump exclusively until the girls were ready to nurse - 3 months later! No need to rent a pump - this is a good as you can get without owning a huge cumbersome hospital unit. Plus, the car adapter was a must with me. I pumped while driving (not sure what the cops would have thought about that - but mom has to do what she has to do). Then it can take batteries - great if you want to take it to the county fair or a sporting event. Plus, it is totally compatible with all hospital pump parts (made by Ameda - my hospital used ameda). Not a pumper
Unlike many moms I know, I do not find great ease in pumping. For some reason I struggle. It may have something to do with not being relaxed while performing this art. However, since I started using this pump, I have become a pro (at least in comparison to what I was before). This pump is a dream compared to the pumps I have tried in the past. It works very efficiently. Great buy!

Nice Pump
I brought this pump after the birth of my second child. As with everybody, I did a lot of research before buying this one after the birth of my son before returning full time back to work. I spoke to two lactation consultants and both of them recommended either Medela PIS or Ameda purely yours or Avent Isis Duo. I chose Ameda backpack version over others because of price,features and number of parts to clean. I use this at home over the weekend and Medela Lactina Plus at work which is a hospital grade pump that my office provides. Both pumps are comparable and I get probably an ounce more with the Medela Lactina plus. It is very easy to setup and clean and the motor is quieter than the Lactina that I use at work. The best thing is the suction and the speed setting which can be set independent of each other. I like the suction which is soft and with practice I have been able to set it up to mimic my baby's suction. I haven't been using it during weekdays so I don't know the...
